Bullies. I canât stand em. Iâve even BEEN one for a short period of time. Yep. Result of my parentâs divorce. The person I bullied is now a lifelong friend đ We âbullyâ in our lives to assume some form of control. Iâve spent a lifetime doing my best to make sure no one in my presence is ever again bullied. Itâs something thatâs always driven me. Speaking of driving, Stephen King didnât like bullies much either. So much so, he wrote about a car that got the ultimate revenge on bullies. It murdered them. Of course it has all the hot rod (literally lol) classic car tropes and teenage dynamics of the 50âs. Rebel youth. Shit we can forever relate to. However, in my opinion, Christine feels like itâs less about a killer car, and more about death. Death of your childhood. Death of your family. Death of innocence. After all, good art is about how we relate to it and what we take from it. This was also adapted into one of my absolute favorite Carpenter films. When this scene comes along⌠the raging inferno of âChristineâ⌠stalking her ownerâs bully down the highway at night⌠getting the ultimate revenge⌠well I think we can all relate to a time when we would have wanted to see that happen to our own âbullyâ. Too bad we didnât all have a killer 1958 Plymouth Fury at our disposal đĽđđ âHer nameâs Christineâ. 5âx7â. Watercolor on paper. Super fun one to paint.
