Hey, crit community. Come here.
We need to have a come to jesus moment for a second. I am imploring you to do a few things for me.
Firstly, someone summarizing something is not an inherent stamp of approval (or disapproval.) Unless it's otherwise stated, people are documenting things so folks don't have to watch things/creators they can't stand. Frankly, we should be a tad more appreciative for their services. Or at least not immediately jump to conclusions.
Documentation is not a show of support. It is archival work, which considering how often Viv and Co. delete shit, it's very necessary.
So take a second before you start hurling accusations when people are posting overviews/notes. Alright?
Secondly, I am going to BEG you to start providing receipts when making callouts. In a court of law, the prosecution has something called the burden of proof. That means they have to be the one to show evidence. If you aren't going to provide it, it makes it more difficult to believe. (Especially if you aren't a direct victim.)
Furthermore, a single tweet isn't inherently a full admission of guilt. Often there's further context to be gleaned by digging a little deeper. The term "beyond a reasonable doubt" springs to mind.
Also please double check your sources before mixing up two different problematic people. I've seen it happen at least once, and that's already too often.
Thirdly, take a breath before engaging.
If you're a fan reading this, this goes for you too. Hell, I highly doubt it will reach them, but this goes for the crew as well. Take a moment before you say something you'll regret. This isn't a race. You don't have to get there in two seconds.
Beyond that, utilize your blacklist of choice. Block and move on. I'm not saying you can't get into scuffles, but know that you don't HAVE to fight. It's okay to just drop it.
Finally, STOP GOING AFTER CIVILIANS.
What I mean by that is, if someone is just expressing their love for the show? Don't fucking go at them. DON'T. SWING. ON. CIVILIANS. They are playing in their own sandbox, they aren't talking about you, and they aren't hurting anyone.
If they're talking shit? Then they're opening themself up. If they come into YOUR sandbox and start kicking? Go for it.
But don't intentionally go into/post using their tags and start fights. They're allowed to like their show, just like we're allowed to not like it. Being a fan isn't some kind of unforgivable sin.
We have plenty of our own community to bitch to, you don't need to drag them into it. Okay?
(remaking this because the tags were incorrect before)
