Lovely view over the Thames last night
Oh, you know chillin in the Andes ;)
We went on a 4 day adventure to Mendoza, Argentina which is right on the border between Argentina and Chile. More pictures to come of our delicious and exciting trip.
dating while abroad (and f*t)
yeah so my love life has been a mess.
Part of the issue is that I’ve been intoxicated when things have been happening, and part of it is general fuckery.
But yeah so I made out with this guy I really wasn’t into and later found out that he’s a total creep and has drugged girls before and that was all kinds of disgusting. I’m trying to pretend that never happened, and get over that he though for whatever reason, that I would be an easy lay.
Then there was this other guy. Who I kinda liked. Who was kinda sweet. We are kinda friendly ignoring each other now, which is fine, but I just wonder, as always, what it takes to actually make it work with someone, and what he was thinking.
I don’t have much time left here. I was never looking for anything serious. But I wonder what the options would have looked like if I looked different. Which I always wonder.
Been doing so much. I’mma have to break this up.
Right now I’m on spring break and my mom’s friend came out to travel around the UK with me because he has never been out of the US before and has been super supportive of me in school so I thought it would be nice. And it has been. We met in Dublin and took a ferry to Holyhead, Wales, which was a pretty insubstantial town. The next day we came to Cardiff, where we are now, and took a day trip out to Swansea, which is a really lovely coast town about an hour from Cardiff. Tomorrow we are going to London, and then up to Scotland. I’ll be more diligent about posting, especially photos. :)

I sat down today at my residence and broke a chair
#fatgirlproblems
I still can't believe that this place was real.
It's been a while since I wrote anything here, and part of that's been that I'm busy, and part of it's been that I don't know what to say. Its kind of annoying talking to people about being abroad and traveling, because they have all these expectations, and don't really want to hear anything different. One cousin of mine in particular, asks really leading questions, giving me the script for her with very little effort on my part ("oh, Ireland must be so beautiful! Is it really as green as people say?" Or "you must be having the most wonderful time!" Etc). And I'm tired of it, so I've been more honest. And here is my honesty. Ireland is great. Traveling is an awesome experience. Being abroad for a semester is so refreshing and needed and I haven't felt so good or healthy in years. But... Honestly, I am tired all the time. Everything is new, and my body feels it. Honestly, men are still creepy and getting honked at on the street and groped in clubs isn't any more fun just because I'm abroad. Honestly, there is a lot of suffering here, and it would be willfully ignorant of me (and awful) to ignore that for the sake of my pleasure. Honestly, I'm homesick. And I'm not ready to leave, but home lingers on the horizon and I'm worried that if I spend time missing it, I won't get able to appreciate being here. Honestly, it sucks going shopping with friends and finding out that an Irish size 16 is like a U.S. size 10. That euro-dollar exchange rate is not my friend. And the pound-dollar rate will be even worse when I go to Northern Ireland, or if I go to Britain. Honestly, most of the people I've interacted with have been really nice. But not the woman at the immigration center who yelled at me and questioned me for literally no reason. Honestly, the food is seriously good. Like, ridiculously delicious, and not entirely consisting of potato (why do people ask about potatoes? Like, yeah they are super popular here, but either you know that already, or you don't, and there's no reason to ask either way?). Honestly, in the dead of winter, plants die and the weather is miserable. Spring is precious because of this, and I love every day that gets warmer, sunnier, and greener...but I love them because of the deprivation. Honestly, I'm happy and grateful and pleased that I'm here, and honestly, I wouldn't trade being here for almost anything. But (honestly) there are really difficult, challenging parts of living here and being a student here and traveling. Every day I'm learning and experiencing. And time is going so quickly.
I, it turns out, am also pretty spectacular in the fog.

remember that a foreign country is not designed to make you comfortable. It is designed to make its own people comfortable

I can't believe this will be my new home in just a few short days!!! I love how hommy it is!
Today is mod Lupe's birthday. Give gmosqued some love!! Xoxoxoxo from Cork, Ireland!
I'm so ready for these clubs
Today my friend and I went to get hangover food and as we were walking downtown we got caught behind these slow walking tourists taking photos of everything and we finally managed to speed around them and we talked shit about them all the way to the restaurant and when we got there my friend was like "you know, a month ago we were those annoying slow-walking picture-taking tourists" and we said a very humble apology to the whole of Ireland.

Great nights in galway
The shit that's happend
I know I haven't posted in freaking forever but thats because of my own procrastination and things that happened. There was a brief period of time where I was pretty damn sure I wasn't even going to go study abroad, yet here I am 26 days from departure. Holy shit, 26 days. I am leaving this country in 26 short fucking days. Oh and did I forget to mention that I turn 21 within those 26 days. Yea. . . this month is going to be a wild ride.
I am 100% sure that I am going abroad especially after attending a week of classes at my University. Right now I am working at a preschool and at my University, because going abroad ain't cheap. I am also mentally freaking out due to my checklist and hoping I can finance everything. But, no matter what I know that I am going to have fun with minimal money because when you've grown up poor you know how to have fun without money.
On the bright side I have received a link to where I will be staying at in Argentina! (I'll post pictures after this post) It's super cozy and has great access to public transportation! I've been checking on my flight as well and luckily I get the aisle seat for the entire trip, which is great!
