Applying to Australian universities: How does it work?

If you’re considering applying to Australian universities, you might have a few questions about “how this whole thing works.” Let us explain!

While all-day stretchy pants are indeed a COVID perk, one big trade-off is actually being able to get out and meet students face-to-face on campus, at coffee shops, or at one of our Study in Australia fairs. These 10-minute chats are so helpful in being able to explain, even briefly, how this whole thing “works.”

By the time we meet, most of our students have gone through some central application system and understand the concept of a university application. However, very few have applied to universities in another country, using a different grade-point scale, with seasons that are opposite, and new words like “sem” and “uni.”

Welcome to the world where school starts in February, summer is over the holidays, and winter is, well, just not.

While I was in Barcelona, I took two weekend vacations. My first trip was to Geneva, Switzerland/ Chamontix & Annecy, France. I went on this adventure with people from my program that I met in France (God bless this country, for it never stops giving to me). I had the best time! Nothing was really planned and I am beginning to appreciate spontaneity more and more as I travel. The first day we explored Geneva. It was a beautiful city, one of the cleanest I have seen so far. There were lots of flowers and swans. The water was crystal clear in the lake. The only thing that was really not so awesome was the prices. In general, a cheap meal was 25 Francs (1.01 Francs = 1 USD). 

The next day, we took a trip across the border in France (I was beyond happy to be surrounded by the language and the people again for the weekend). Chamonitx is comparable to Steven’s Pass and Leavenworth, Washington. It was a little ski town in a valley between mountains. I was so so so grateful to be that close to mountains again. The more time I spend away from home and the greater Seattle area, the more I grow to love it. We didn’t plan to hike, but we did. I was so embarrassed to be wearing sandals and boyfriend jeans when everyone was in heavy duty hiking gear. I didn’t see a mountain goat, but the view made up for it. If you ever go to France, I highly recommend spending a night or two in Chatmonix.

So I tried something new and decided to blog about the past few days instead of write about them. Turns out, this takes much more time... but ANYWAY here’s the link to the video and I’ve posted some pictures to go along with what I’m talking about because it really is just me talking to a screen lol sorry.
