“Sick Note” with Nick Frost, Camilla Beeput and Rupert Grint, we now know the director of this comedy series:

Director Matt Lipsey is one of the top comedy directors currently working in television.

Matt moved into comedy in the mid 1990’s with the successful original series The Armstrong & Miller Show, which was hailed for its ‘delightful surrealistic edge’.

In 2005, Matt was presented with a BAFTA for his work directing the second series of Little Britain. The 2007 Little Britain Christmas Special, also directed by Matt, won an International Emmy.

Matt directed both series of the award-winning Psychoville for BBC2, written by and starring Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton with, among  others, Dawn French and Dame Eileen Atkins. He also directed two series of the Sky Atlantic comedy series This is Jinsy.

Matt has worked with King Bert on several productions now, including Gangsta Granny (photo), the top rating Christmas special:The Boy in the Dress, Billionaire Boy (photo) and, Walliams and Friend (photo) for the BBC.  He is now directing Sick Note written by James Serafinowicz and Nat Saunders.

Matt’s latest series Upstart Crow (photo), written by Ben Elton, will transmit on BBC2 to coincide with the celebrations surrounding the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. [x]

You said, Nonny. And it’s such a can of worms for me because I keep going back and forth about who it will be. It COULD be Carol. It COULD be Maggie or Glenn. The only one I’m pretty confident it isn’t is Daryl. And I don’t really think it’s Carol either. I’m less sure about her but the idea of her death just doesn’t ring true to me. (Though admittedly, if you ask me again next week, my opinion might be different. It really just depends on what new symbolism we get with each episode.)

So lately I’ve been thinking maybe it really will be Glenn. I know, I know. I’ve been saying all season that he won’t die. My main evidence for that came from the SDCC just before the season began. The cast was joking around about Glenn dying. I believe everyone was asked what character they would want back if they could and someone (Norman, maybe? Can’t remember for sure) said Glenn. 

I immediately went, “Yeah, Glenn’s not dying this season.” Because whenever a major character death happens, they stay a million miles away from it. (Kinda like they’ve gone out of their way not to say Beth’s name in the show this season, even though they’ve had several prime opportunities, which makes me think she’s very close.) So it seems to me that if they’re joking around about it, chances are it’s not going to happen.

And there are days when I think about that argument and REALLY want to stand by it. (Not least because I really don’t want Glenn to die.) 

But something did occur to me last week. When SDCC was happening, in July, they definitely hadn’t filmed the season finale yet. So it’s possible the cast didn’t know what was happening in the finale at that point and the joking about Glenn’s death was just a reference to him falling off the dumpster.

Anyway, I can see it going either way and, as I’ve talked about with several people on private threads, the symbolism, especially around Carol is so muddled and ambiguous right now, I can see it going either way. So…

I’m thinking that DOESN’T really answer your questions (sorry) but I honestly just don’t know. I think you’re right that someone big will die in the finale but at this point, it’s anyone’s guess who.

The best part of this deleted scenes list is:

1) We get a very touching and amazing scene between Igor and Lorelei in the circus. This will definitely make everyone see that Igor wasn’t just some creepy/stalkery guy that never spoke to Lorelei before the incident. They definitely have a past and knew each other and respected and liked each other. UGH.

2) TURPIN BEING A DETECTIVE. He is so awesome in Max Landis’ script and the fact that we get to see him do his job in TWO deleted scenes will make his character far more likable to a lot of people, I bet. And hello, it’s Andrew Scott, so, he’ll be amazing.

3). HOLY F****** S***. SEVEN MINUTES AND 46 SECONDS OF THE BABY SCENE FROM THE TRAILER. YOU GUYS. This is my FAVORITE scene from the script and I just CAN’T BELIEVE we’ll get to see it in all of it’s glory when the film comes out. MORE FREDDIE FOX/FINNEGAN. MORE FINNEGAN/VICTOR. MORE MARK GATISS’ AWESOME GERMAN ACCENT AND MUSTACHE. MORE IGORSTEIN. TRUST ME, THE IGORSTEIN IN THIS SCENE IS INTENSE AND DARK AND BEAUTIFUL AND UGH.
