"We took a cardboard pillar to the centre of Hasselt from wich we played metal music. To confront the general public with the genre and their thoughts about it, since subculture is usually only found in the obscure parts of the city."
By: Deniz Baki, Garland Laffut, Giovani Martens, Sam Vermeylen
"Nowadays the statues in the city donât seem to capture the people their attention anymore. Art objects standing for years on the same place tend to be boring to the masses. Thatâs why we chose to refresh art objects in Hasselt, so people will be interested again in said statues. Refreshing art means you will create another dimension and add a layer of here and now to it."

"Abstract lines form a pattern in public space which leads people to a new destination."

"Paper planes with positive messages bring joy to the hearts of the passengers."

"In every big city there's a similar problem; trash being thrown on the ground. Our goal was to bring more attention to the multiple trash cans in the streets in a fun way, by using brightly colored cardboard box animals, who are, in a way, the true victims of our littering."
Wrapping
By: Tessie Dessers, Hanne Hulsmans, Tiana van de Weyer, Joren Jennes "With our project âwrappingâ, we wanted to take on the drudgery of our daily life. Standing in line, waiting for a bus or train,⌠weâve all been there. Thatâs why we wanted to give the people something to do and give them a smile on their face whilst doing so. We started with the idea of handing out little bubblewrap papers to people, which quickly grew to wrapping in an entire bus stop at one of the hot spots of Hasselt with bubblewrap."

Blue Olive
By: Ellen Paumen, Sanne Roemers, Els Cuypers, Dagmar Dillen "We placed several stickers on an abandoned building with a skyline shape and added the text 'SOON 1-2 05 15'. This implies that something will happen the 1st-2nd May. Today was April Fools' Day so in fact, nothing will happen at those dates."

Underdog
By: Sabrina Wendlerova, Dries Martens, Aitana Meeus, Steffiiee Mathijs "We dropped of a puppy next to a note on a piece of cardboard in the hallway of the Mediamarkt. We wrote "I'm working, take care of Naya" on the board with some extra information and also the phone number from Steffie (group member) on it. Then we filmed the reactions of the people who walked by the puppy. ( The puppy was from Dries, a member of our group, and we took great care of her)"
The Forgotten Village
By: Soscha Kikken, Yente Dingenen "We tried to enhance the city strolling experience by adding a miniature leprechaun village to resemble the leprechaun houses we know from our childhood walks through the forests. Placing the little village in the city also represents the expansion of cities at the cost of the village populations. Most of the passers-by didn't seem to notice the village. This only proves that people become more self-absorbed and don't even take the time to look at their surroundings. We noticed that the children seemed to notice the village way more often than the adults. We believe this is caused by their lack of worries that adults face every day, therefore they have more time to enjoy the moment. The forgotten village represents the lost naivety most of us lose when we face adulthood."
Bussfeed
By: Paulien Dirckx, Lien Meeus, Jedidja Samyn, Lise Van Rickstal "Our project is called Bussfeed. We were inspired by the concept of the time passing by while waiting. With this project we wanted to entertain the public at the bus station. We created a mailbox that produced newsfeeds. This way people had something to read. During this experiment we noticed the people started dicussing these feeds and interacting with each other."
Prikbord Trolley
By: Ine Beertens, Helena Pelsmaekers, Lauren Wouters "Or in Englisch: the messagetrolley. We noticed that the travellers in the station of Hasselt are bored when they're waiting. They don't talk to each other and are always watching their phones. We wanted to connect the traveller by writing a positive messages to each other and entertain them. We introduced the trolley with kindness and asked if they wanted to take a note of the bord and write another for the bord, the next one could take this note again. We created a non-virtual communication system and we had the chance to talk with people of all kinds of backgrounds. Very interesting!"
Tape Chase
By: Annelies Vandenput, Nathalie Schreurs, Margo Willems "We wanted to capture the route that people go. So we followed some students at our school with colored tape when they passed the entrance hall. We used two colors, red and yellow, to show the diversity between the students and the different ways they choose in life. People paths cross every day without even noticing or meeting each other. At the end we became a graphic art work of flashy lines."

Social Awkwardness
By: Lena Scheers, Nette Verduyckt, Andrea van Hooy, Kyra Lindelauf
"In a world where people need their personal space, we try to force people in social interaction with eachother. Our way of doing this is by obstructing a tunnel with a passage made out of a cardboard wall. By forming a corner in this passage we ensure they canât see the person approaching from the opposite side. The reactions on this interaction are all different but also amusing. Some people are very awkward in this situation, others hesitant to pass through. Several people turned away when they saw the obstruction, many found it suspicious. Thereâs a social awkwardness when unknown people are too close in a narrow path. The other person canât ignore the passerby, and are aware of their presence but still try to maintain a distance by looking away or forward. This way they still try to protect their personal space in an awkward situation. We tried to capture this in our video."
BeyoncĂŠ der Ground
By: Jens, Pieter, Toon. "We made a Cardboard tree, to resemble the Tree of Wisdom. And we placed it in the University of Hasselt."
