Recently, we’ve received quite a few anonymous complaints regarding similar member issues. Usually they’re because someone posted something without tagging it or didn’t include enough tags or content warnings. We’ve noticed a pattern of anonymous messages asking us to resolve these issues without the sender even attempting to contact the member themselves. Most, if not all, of these situations could have been solved by simply sending a message to the member in question without the need for mod involvement.

Mod intervention has always been something we considered to be a last resort. We believe that our members should be capable of settling small disputes and expressing their boundaries by themselves. Things like someone missing a tag, posting something you don’t like (barring anything that would fall under our zero tolerance policy), or anything along those lines are something we feel is an easy fix if the person is sent a simple message. We trust that no one in our community misses a tag on purpose or wants to cause discomfort, so anyone should be happy to comply so long as you reach out and let them know!

We have stressed a few times before that communication in rp is key. There’s no reason we should be getting involved in simple requests unless things have escalated (a fair request being dismissed, retaliatory behavior, harassment, etc). While we’ve taken it upon ourselves to maintain a safe little corner of MFRP, we are not here to be used as messengers, nor to mediate small, avoidable squabbles. We’re all adults and capable of communicating our feelings in a straightforward, healthy way.

While it may be more comfortable to you to contact us instead of directly communicating, by putting another member in the position where a mod is reaching out to them over small issues you’re not only drawing out the situation by involving the whole mod team, but it is often distressing, alienating, and disrespectful to the member in question when they’re happy to amend and wondering if others are trying to get them in trouble. This is why mod intervention should only be used as a last resort.

This is why, moving forward, we will not take action on anonymous complaints about other members unless you can prove you tried to resolve the issue with them yourself before approaching us. Please do your best to resolve the situation before you consider mod intervention.

If, after this post, we keep receiving anonymous complaints against members for the reasons listed above, we will turn anon off, and this time, it’ll be permanently.

Hello all!

Just a quick wee note to say I've drafted the Microfic Challenge post for July so it's ready to go because I'll be on holiday when the first of the month rolls around.

I also wanted to say that, come August, I will make that our first pairing- or character-specific challenge. I haven't quite decided which to do yet but I do know that Jalex will be banned because most of the entries are Jalex. I love that ship very much, it's near and dear to my heart, so no hard feelings about it, but I also love reading other ships and it's nice to see other pairings get the spotlight!

If the challenge was pairing-specific, that means a pairing would be chosen to go alongside the prompt. So, for example, it could be "road, 603 words, Zalex."

If the challenge was character-specific, that means the pairing would have to feature the chosen character, but the pairing (or if there was a pairing at all) is up to you. So, for example, it could be "road, 603 words, Matt Flyzik." The story could be based around Matt with no pairing, or he could be featured with any All Time Low band or crew member (or someone else entirely!) that you desire, as long as he's part of it.

Another possible option is sometimes having a month where the character is, say, Jack, but he must be paired with someone from a different band.

As always, non-slash pairings are also welcome.

I hope that all makes sense, I just want there to be an extra challenge with the prompt sometimes to keep it exciting and give us content for ships or characters that might not often get a look in.

All that said, if you want to give this post a wee reply once you've read it and let us know if you'd like a pre-selected pairing for August's challenge, or if you'd like to try the character-specific way first, that would be lovely. <3
