27 April: Freedom Day I've been thinking a lot about what it means to be free especially since it's Freedom Day in South Africa. Often when one thinks of freedom one thinks about chains, cages, letting go and being indifferent towards people and things, or even having the wings to fly or to do what one previously wasn't be able to do... But, after reading this interesting quote by Andréa Balt I found some sort of sense in the concept of Freedom. For those at both sides of the freedom (or lack of freedom) spectrum... Think about what's in your soul, think about who you are, your morals and values and standards. Then think about what's holding you back. Think about who you're holding back. Is what you're doing, how you're behaving, how you're treating someone (regardless of race, creed, background and actions) a true reflection what you believe and what's in your soul?
