… As a librarian who has been working in libraries for 12 ½ years, I am very confused as to the idea that the Jedi are “practicing information control” by… restricting access to super advanced and/or darker (of Sith origin) holocrons etc. First of all, Special Collections exist and those absolutely have rules about who is and isn’t allowed to access it. Maybe its fragile. Maybe its in poor shape. Maybe the person who donated it put restrictions on it. Maybe it hasn’t been verified yet, or the collection is being actively worked with. Second, when said artifacts can hypothetically possess you/cause you harm, I would hope that they’d restrict access to people who could handle them without being hurt.

Honestly the real question is why the Jedi don’t just destroy Dark Side artefacts on sight. Evil shit that possesses people shouldn’t be in a library, just should be shot at high speed into the nearest available black hole.

As a Ukrainian-American it’s actually deeply disturbing to watch many of my fellow American/western progressives uncritically swallow Russian propaganda and promote Russian imperialism, while my family in Ukraine lives in terror every day that Russian soldiers will show up outside their house.

It’s like some of y’all realized “Western imperialist propaganda is bad” and instead of coming to the conclusion that it’s imperialism that’s bad, you decided that because the West is bad any imperialism, murder, genocide, and bigotry are fine as long as the people doing it also don’t like the West. It should not be difficult to understand that the American government being bad does not automatically make anyone opposing the American government good.
