This is Opal! I brought him home a few days ago, and just saw that he blew a bubble nest! It means he’s healthy, happy, and ready to mate! (That last part won’t be fulfilled, sorry buddy.) I’ve never had this happen before, because I’ve usually kept female bettas, so I was incredibly surprised and am elated! 😄🌼🌊
A very beautiful betta but I just want to clear some things up. A bubble nest doesnt necessarily mean they are healthy or happy, it does mean though they are ready to mate. There have been numerous cases of where a betta is on death’s door, suffering from fin rot, or suffering from another disease, etc, and they still will make a bubble nest. The only way to ensure a betta is “happy and healthy” is to have a tank 2.5 gallons (preferable 5-10 gallons) or more, fully cycled, heated to at least 78F, with a good filter. If anyone doesn’t know what any of those things are there are a ton of helpful resources on tumblr and google. Make sure to give your fish friend as good of care you would give yourself!
