A Response to Raptured-Night.
This is what I posted in a reblog which is on my Tumblr. I’m posting it separately so more people have a chance to see it without having to wade waist deep through the hate from bullies making excuses for their behavior. It’s copy/pasted and not altered from the reblog.
So, raptured-night blocked me, which is her right. Guess she wants to post and not have to defend herself against a rebuttal but that won’t work. I’ve returned the favor. She’s blocked. And, @cluelessinseattle what makes you think I didn’t want anyone to respond? I never said that or intimated it in any way, so I don’t know where you’re getting that information. Anyway…
1. Before we move forward I want to say that I addressed BGGG and people of the like in the original post. So if you’re argument is that I’m supporting her actions you need to stop and read the original post before further engaging. Point blank.
2. Let’s stop this “you need to call out your shipmates first”. Because, no I do not. I am not my shipmates. We don’t expect Carylers to call out the problematic Carylers before they’re allowed to defend themselves. Or Richonners or Ricklyers or Lorrickers. Nope, nope, nope. I’m sorry that’s not how it works. If that’s how we’re doing it then I fully expect that in the beginning of your reply you call out anyone in your ship (whatever it is) that has ever done anything problematic before moving forward. The end.
3. I am unique.I am an individual. I am allowed to stand up and say stop judging me based on my ship mates. Stop judging my friends who have nothing to do with these people. To think otherwise makes you a bully. This is a stretch but we don’t judge all of TWD fandom based on some of TWD fanom, now do we? In which case we’re all child abusers because of BGGG. Why do you judge all Bethylers based on some Bethylers? You are a bully if you think it’s okay to stereotype, put down, and attack instead of treating someone with respect first.
4. This is an important point so please read it if you read nothing else. You and your group have admitted there are acceptable reasons to ship Bethyl. Maybe someone is a teenager. Maybe someone is using it to cope with their own abuse. We probably disagree on what an acceptable reason is, but the point is you have admitted there are things that make it ‘okay’ in your opinion. So my question to you is what makes you so special that someone should have to explain or show their victim credit to you? What gives you the right to approach someone and say “prove to me why you ship this” when quite frankly, it’s none of your business. The reason could be deeply personal, and no, not everyone has to share every detail of their real life on the internet. That makes you the controlling abuser. That makes you the bully. You aren’t treating people as unique individuals worthy of respect or privacy. You have no right to demand that information from someone.
5. It is not okay to turn everyone in fandom against an entire group of people you know nothing about as individuals. You see an individual obviously acting out? Call out the individual. I am allowed to stand up and speak up for myself. By telling me I’m not, you remove my individual rights, which is abusive, controlling, and bullying.
6. The Negan argument …oh my! Yes, Negan is a sexual predator. Yes, fandom is already making excuses for him. Yes, it’s just as toxic if we’re to take these issues as seriously as you do. We have an entire group of people trying to excuse and justify his actions and they aren’t nearly as ostracized as Bethyl shippers. I’m not one to ostracize. I do realize there is a difference between TV and real life. But if you’re going to attack anyone who likes Daryl with Beth (which makes Daryl a sexual predator to you) then you need to attack anyone who tries to justify the actions that make Negan a sexual predator. We can’t make excuses for one group that supports a sexual predator and not another. The point of that was to use your logic against you and yeah, it sounds silly when it’s typed out doesn’t it? That was the point. What kind of person sees a man coerce a woman into sleeping with him by threatening her husband to keep her complaint and thinks it’s okay? What about those victims? It’s still glorifying sexual abuse is it not?!
7. Musethedead’s icon? No shit it’s a dumb argument, but its hers. That was the point which flew right over your head. She assumes anyone that’s related to Bethyl or Bethylers, in any way, is problematic so I can do the same to her for having a racist icon. To be honest with you, her reasoning was utter BS. She picked it because he’s shushing people? Really? There’s 5 million pictures of other people shushing people (even one of Daryl!) but she picked Merle? The racist? If someone else said “I picked a picture of a racist simply because they were flipping the bird and I wanted an icon of someone flipping the bird” your group would attack them. You bend the rules for your own group which is the attribute of a BULLY. By the way she did like Merle’s character. Why didn’t she just say that when she explained her icon away? She skirted around the issue and made up some superficial excuse.
Now I don’t think musethedead is a racist, for the record, but if we’re to vilify people for sympathizing with something in fiction (what you do) then I say we need to vilify her for sympathizing with a racist. He was set in his ways, she says. I liked his character, she says. Now clearly she knows that racism is not OK in real life, and I doubt she’d be buddy buddy with one in REAL LIFE, but since she seems to think every last Bethyler on earth would send their sixteen year old out on a hot kinky date with a 40 year old, you can bet your ass I can apply that same logic to her. It is hers after all. Fair is fair, and when you’re gonna tell people that what they support in fiction reflects them as a person, I can do it too. I can do it however I wish, just as you can. She sympathizes with a racist fictional character, so she must do it for real racists too.
8. Team Delusional. Do not hold me accountable for Team Delusional. Nope that just won’t fly. I am not Team Delusional. That’s absurd for someone to come back at me with TD’s wrongdoings. One of the reasons you all claim TD is toxic is because they’ve tainted poor Beth fans that aren’t even TD, and yet you turn around and do exactly that to me. Do not hold me accountable for something I’m not even a part of, nowhere close to being a part of. If someone comes back at me with TD I’m going to assume they’re also responsible for anything anyone does that they just so happen to have attributes in common with. I will say this, for every problematic TDer, there’s one that just thinks theories are cool, or wants Beth back, but you all ostracize them too. You’re good at that.
9. You hold Bethylers to higher expectations. Like I said, no one else has to call out problematic shipmates before speaking out. In fact most people start their arguments with “Bethylers send me anon hate…” without a single word about their own problematic shipmates. We don’t expect them to address that first, but if a Bethyler stands up for themselves (as I am doing), you tell me to sit down and shut up, unless I am to also call out every problematic person before me. Nope nope nope. Once again, do not put expectations on Bethylers that you do no one else. Unfair treatment is once again…bullying.
Another example, lets talk about anons. You say Bethylers send themselves fake anon support and fake anon hate. Well, some of they probably do! Buuuut, you never, ever consider the possibility that other shippers are doing the exact same thing. God knows it’s just sooo hard, right? Unfair assumptions. Assumptions you aren’t willing to apply to others. Unfair treatment! At this point in this fandom, nothing said anon should be taken seriously because this fandom is SO toxic that people are eager for a reason to make ANY ship that particular person dislikes look bad. All those long ass rebuttal metas that are written in response to evil anons? Puh-lease. That person probably just wanted a reason to rant and rave and sent themselves an anon for an excuse to do it. Open your eyes. Anons are a joke that should hold no damn weight in this fandom and I think deep down you know it. If you’re to assume some are real then I guess you should assume they all are and vice versa. For every Bethyler sending herself hate that supposed to be from Carylers, you really don’t think there’s a single Caryler doing it either? Seriously? Come on now.
10. I noticed all your research. Where’s your links to the fallout of internet bullying? Where’s your research about kids who have harmed themselves because of it? And no I’m not threatening to do that if you think this is my way of guilt tripping you, it’s just an honest question. You are a bully. You plow through people with your outrage and never stop to consider the consequences. You have turned the entire fandom into an unwelcoming, toxic place for people you know nothing about. You don’t treat them with respect or see them as individuals. Bullying is a real thing, with dangerous consequences, too, but you won’t acknowledge that. No one does. You all gang up on ALL Bethylers and it’s just supposed to be okay. You need to stop. Nothing you say will justify your behavior. There’s a reason it’s always the same group of people that reblog these long winded rants that you post. Because it’s the same damn group of bullies that thrive off seeing this on their dash.
As a fandom, it all needs to stop. You bend the rules for your friends, you hold your enemies to higher expectations than others, you give other people the benefit of the doubt but offer zero in return. That’s all you do is sit and judge people. Every day. Which is why I targeted a certain group with my tags because you’re the ones most likely to be knee deep in the drama when it unfolds. And yet you’ve accomplished nothing in the way of a positive change. Post after post of calling people out and dragging people’s names, and all we’ve accomplished is a whole lot of he said, she said, ‘they started it first’, etc, etc. It has leaked into every crevice of fandom. Bethylers are pretty much unwelcome everywhere, and while yes, some of that is due to the actions of some, a lot of it is because you make blanket statements about us all. That is not okay no matter which way you twist it. You and your friends are just a bunch of hypocritical bullies that love to dig up drama and shit talk. Sometimes you seem like a bunch of church ladies swapping gossip on a Sunday. Or better yet, Mean Girls. So have a nice day, Regina George!

Days before, Paz, a fan of the Cartoon herself, seemingly disappeared from the internet after a number of SU fans targeted work on her Tumblr page that they considered to be problematic.
“I’m going to sleep forever,” Paz wrote. “I’m sorry everyone I’m just super tired. This will be the last you’ll hear from me. I’m going to be at peace now. I’m sorry.”
The series of events leading up to Paz’s cryptic message and video post is complicated and difficult to understand without grasping just how intense the Steven Universe fandom can be.

While Zamii being alive and healthy is certainly the most important detail of this story, the depravity of the SJW community on Tumblr is what is truly disgusting.
