Unit BA1b

Another photo of another one of our meet ups as we are nearing the presentation date and thought we better fit it another gathering in order to make sure we’re on track. We have organised another meeting after the Easter break for a rehearsal, of sorts, for the presentation.

This is me and my group, again meeting up to talk about everything we had done so far and thought we’d take a picture to show it.

I’m going to be basic my section of the presentation off of this as I think it’s interesting to hear things straight from someone who is in the industry.

I found this list of people whilst scrolling through show creator Alex Hirsch’s list of following of twitter and then combining that with looking whoever I found up on imdb.

For the Media Roles Presentation, I was put with a pretty good group, in which we settled upon a topic, ‘Gravity Falls’, pretty quickly and all mutually agreed on it as well. Choosing areas of focus for everyone was easy too as everybody seemed to want to do different things so it turned out for the best and are planning to meet up most weekends throughout the project to discuss everything that we research and learn.

As well as everything else, I’m tempted to add some of these composited images of my character, Warble, as a way to show my most recent work that I’ve finished.

I think it’d be a nice touch to be able to insert s couple of my own artwork from my free time in order to show my drawing capabilities and show some of my personality through the showreel.

I think it would also be a good idea to include 2 walk cycles, a hand draw one from the start of the year compared to this one which is relatively recent and shows a comparison in that of software I’ve learnt to use within the year.

These were the 3 icons that I decided to replace the animation with in the space beneath the name on the title and openings.

I had an idea to fill the gaps in the title and end screens with a little animation of a head akin to me like this but thought it might not be as good as it sounds in my head so I decided to just keep it simple and not animate it. Instead take the 3 facial expressions this short animation shows and use those instead.

I also made a short and quick ending to match the title screen that I made with the same intent of putting a little avatar of myself in the gap as the title one.

I made a short title animation that I can use as the front cover of my showreel. The gap between my name and ‘Animator’ was made because I plan on putting a little avatar of myself there to fill the space.

I think adding in one of the stop motion videos that I’ve done would help show a broader amount of animation and keep things interesting within the showreel so that it’s not just the same few clips repeating.

I’m also trying to decide whether to add in the plan for my After Effects animation from the morph project, as I personally preferred it to the actually After Effects animation and feel like it could be nice to add.

I also think I’m going to include my final rendering of the mystery box animation, a long with a few progressional shots maybe, such as my live action reference and maybe my animatic, to show directly the progression of it.

I was thinking about including this short dive animation in my showreel as although it isn’t the best in terms of spacing and believable movement throughout the jump, I thought it would be a good thin to be able to show my improvement throughout all the projects similar to this.
