Contacting Someone in the Industry
It’s my job to contact someone who worked of ‘Gravity Falls’ and ask them a few questions based around their time working on gravity falls and maybe some insight into working in the industry as well.
As a group we came up with a list of possible topics to consider if I manage to contact anyone. They were:
Role in production of show
General experiences, how they felt at studio etc, what they learnt
Have they worked with other studios and their experiences
What animation software they used
Have they had the opportunity to have any influence on the show (if they’re a sb or smth)
Did they find anything limiting or challenging
Advice to offer animation students
How they felt working with the team of GF creators, Alex described his experience as being familial
Are you performing other roles in job, were you limited in branching out
Designers/SB - personal design process, creative resolution
Environment - how and where referenced, creative process
Storyboarder - how they go about simplifying shape and line of actions (maybe)
From these possible topic I have compiled a list of questions to ask someone if they answer my texts that I have sent out.
1. What role did you have in the production of the show?
2. What can you say about your general experiences working there, for example how you felt at the studio, things you learnt etc.
3. What was the most challenging thing you came across whilst working on the show?
4. Do you have any advice to offer animation students that want to go into a job role similar to yours?
5. What is your personal design process, how to you go about thinking of ideas?
6. Can I ask you if you know what animation software was used for the show?
Any of these I think would be really interesting to hear a reply for, I might not ask all of them though.
I’ve message a lot of people so far, them being:
Andy Gonzales (@andyg_glam_cam)
Alex Hirsch (lol one can hope)
Sean Jimenez (@imseanjimenez)
Stephanie Ramirez (@aniramiart)
Michael Rianda - replied and waiting for reply to question
Jeffrey Rowe (@roweyourboatz)
I found this list of people whilst scrolling through show creator Alex Hirsch’s list of following of twitter and then combining that with looking whoever I found up on imdb.
