the only “data centers” we need are public libraries

the reason people "have trouble reading" or finish a book and then go months without reading anything even though they want to read is that people approach reading as entertainment and not an intellectual discipline.... people aren't "motivated" to read and don't instinctively want to because most of the time, reading doesn't give you the dopamine rush that other forms of entertainment and content do. that means it's harder to feel like doing it and it doesn't feel effortless/ as entertaining as consuming other types of content. approaching it as an intellectual discipline makes a lot more sense since you stop having to feel like it in order to do it, and you stop expecting that it will give you that dopamine rush that other forms of content do. it becomes a consistent habit rather than just another form of entertainment.
