I don't really know how to explain this, but it really does, especially since Severus comes from a very poor background ever since he was a child.

People mainly say this because apparently, Severus' hair is way too greasy, which I think is stupid. You can get greasy hair from showering too much, or simply from genetics. Despite his greasy hair and Severus being sickly thin—especially since really low weight tends to make your sweat 10x worse, therefore making you smell worse—it was never mentioned in the books that Severus had a bad smell.

And considering just how brutally honest Harry was—who was the main narrator—he'd definitely state that Snape had a bad odor if Snape never actually showered.

It just doesn't really make sense for me to say that Snape doesn't know what showering is, when everything else indicates otherwise. I mean, I'm not surprised, because Marauders fans tend to be extremely classist (especially the ATYD truthers), but I still find it weird.

He comes home one day from his morning run, all sweaty and breathless, his shirt already thrown away in the laundry basket as he can't wait to take a shower, and is startled to find Will staring at him from the sofa with blown pupils like a cat who spotted a mouse.

So, Chance decides to investigate on his own without telling the other jocks, because they wouldn't understand, or worst, they might think he's a traitor like Lucas.

He sneaks out at night and spies on the military, taking notes of their activities, slowly realizing that earthquake isn't normal and might not be an earthquake at all. He puts a radio-transmitting bug (he made a ham radio himself, so it's faulty and limited in range but it's better than nothing) inside one of the soldiers's tanks while he is working at his dad's repair shop.

There are a lot of interferences, but he still picks up a few weird words, like "dimension", "find the girl", "toxic air", "two soldiers attacked by...creatures"

But as Chance tries to uncover the truth, he runs into Will, who's also investigating his own visions without telling his friends (Will's dealing with some weird sleepwalking, waking up outside in the middle of the woods with no memory of getting there, and he doesn't really want to freak out his mom or his friends more than they already are).

At first wary of each other, they start a strange friendship and meet up at night—the first few times by chance, then by choice. Will knows Demogorgons are roaming Hawkins (a few people have gone missing already) and doesn't want Chance to put himself in danger, so he decides to share what he knows with Chance in order to make him understand what he's getting himself into.

Even if he's a bit overwhelmed at first, Chance never once believes Will is lying to him. On the contrary, he is finally able to put the pieces of puzzle together and gets to know who's truly responsible for the death of his friends. Now, he's determined helping Will to stop Vecna more than ever.

As they grow closer, Chance tries not to think too much why he wants to see Will again so eagerly, why Will's existence feels holier than the God he was taught to worship, or why he doesn't give a single fuck whether Will's the Antichrist or not.

Will tries not to think why Chance's presence soothes something inside him, why he falls asleep so easily when Chance is around, or why the idea of Chance getting hurt breaks his heart into pieces.

chance, coming down from his shock, pulls will in close and starts to reassure him, kiss him, tease him; anything to lighten the mood and bring will back down to earth.

the air isn’t as heavy and will starts to giggle as chance keeps kissing around his face. he starts to back will up into the nearest wall.

he twists their bodies just right as he kisses will fully, expecting solid wall to keep the shorter man exactly where he wants him. will shifts just in time, expecting the wall as well.

nothing catches them. instead, will’s balance fails to recover and he pulls chance down with him.

it’s bright as they glitch through the wall and fall into a new world.

a muffled echo of them hitting the ground reverberates off of the empty walls around them. a fluorescent light flickers above them.

neither man moves.

chance stares down at will in disbelief as he cradles his head, almost scared to turn his own, unable to process what had just happened.

will is staring up at chance with a matching expression, his fingers digging into where they gripped the taller.

“.. will?”

“chance..?”

chance tucks his chin in further and jolts- their legs are still sticking through the wall. he yanks them up onto their feet in the blink of an eye, keeping will tucked against his body as they take in the faded yellow wallpaper and endless halls.

“i thought…” chance swallows, blinking at the kids toys and crayons laying in the middle of the floor. “i thought you said the gate was closed-“

“it is.” will answers, anxious. his eyes dart back and forth. “this isn’t the upside down.”

a simple question hung in the air after he spoke.

Since the party is falling apart and Will feels like everyone is changing except him, finding a new friend who doesn't make him feel like a second choice and genuinely enjoys the same thing as him is a breath of fresh air (and it doesn't hurt that Chance happens to be quite handsome as well).

As they grow closer, Will starts to feel a conflicting mixture of hope and fear. It's been ingrained in him that liking boys is wrong, that romantic love is never going to be for him, and yet he isn't entirely blind to Chance's subtle (read: very obvious and clumsy) flirting either. He can see the way Chance purposely sits close so their thighs are pressed together, the way his eyes linger for too long on his face even when Will's not talking, the way he keeps bumping their knees and makes dumb excuses just to grab his hand. The way he always makes time for him and remembers every detail like Will matters.

One day, Chance invites him at his house to watch a horror movie in his room. Will tells himself it's purely platonic and tries not to overthink (he absolutely does). It starts pretty normal, but as the first victim gets murdered on screen, Chance fakes a yawn and puts an arm around Will's shoulders, and Will's heart is going crazy.
