a wreath on Engels
young Marx/Engels in the morning
they made a new twin peaks font generator website. hold up
a concept that has been plaguing me and my head since i've first watched conclave (2024) and began reading it is: an alternate universe where the characters of the film are in panem. not necessarily in the hunger games, but in panem.
so! since my twitter is awfully flopped and, besides, the part of the conclave fandom i'm in is not that big anyways, i've came to rant about it here—specifically, i've came to rant about what cardinals i think would go in which district. some of them are based on geographic and their nationalities, some of them are based purely on vibes/personality and little else
THOMAS LAWRENCE: CAPITOL
I am. So fucking sorry.
listen. as much as i try to, i just cannot see thomas in as part of any of the districts. he just SCREAMS capitolite to me, both in movie-canon as lawrence and book-canon as lomeli, and there's nothing i can do. obviously, i'm aware that my vision is for sure influenced by the fact that ralph fiennes recently joined the thg franchise as president snow in SOTR, so there's also that. but tbh, even if that weren't the case, i think i'd still see thomas as a capitolite
he's just got this very specific vibe to him that . That just doesn't help his case. now, it's obvious that this comes from my own headcanons in regards to his upbringing, which we don't have informations about neither in the movie nor in the book (robert harris one day you'll pay me for your characters' awful lack of backstories.... one day...) but, to me, lawrence has this "british rich boy born protestant-turned-catholic-after-one-particular tragedy" that i can't ignore.
i think that's it, actually. he screams "rich kid" to me. used to be a rich kid, at least. that's what makes me think he'd be a capitolite
ALDO BELLINI: DISTRICT 13
okay this. i'm ngl this was a hard one
at a first glance, i genuinely thought bellini would be from the capitol, basically for the same reason as i think lawrence would be. stanley tucci already plays caesar flickerman in the thg movies, who's already a capitolite character, yada yada yada. but the more i thought about it, the more i thought that district 13 would be far more fitting for bellini.
first of all, part of district 13's territory corresponds to the modern day state of new york, which is where movie-verse bellini is from, if i'm not mistaken. not only that, but the entire district's thing is like, rebellion, overthrowing the capitol and all that. i believe they've started both of the rebellions in panem. consider that, then take a look at bellini, whose entire character centers around the idea of progress inside of the church, reformations, change, etc... idk, i just think it's fitting for him to be in 13
so, yk, there we have it, he'd be from 13. RIP aldo maria bellini, you would've loved to meet plutarch heavensbee (and you would've absolutely despised alma coin) 💔
VINCENT BENÍTEZ: DISTRICT 10
sorry i couldn't resist putting a gif of his. he's my baby. he's so baby girl (a 54 year old senior citizen). btw, we're going to use movie-verse vincent for this
tbh i think the reason why i put him in district 10 is fairly obvious, considering that a good chunk of the district's territory, from what we now, is concentrated in mexico. as far as the hunger games wiki says, district 10's territory corresponds to the modern day regions of central and north mexico, and also the states of texas and new mexico. what really matters, though, is that district 10's domain also includes queretáro!
walk with me bc i read somewhere on twitter that carlos diehz is from queretáro—i'm not sure that's true, though, because when i google where he's from, it says he's from city of mexico??? but i kind of took that person's word to heart so this is what we'll work with here. besides, i believe it makes the most sense for vincent to be in district 10, mostly for, as you can see, geographic reasons. and i really cannot see him in any other one
and also, including a bit of book-verse in this: towards the end of the book, when he's in the room of tears with lomeli, vincent describes coming from a rather poor family in an equally poor region in the philipphines. so, i'd guess the same applies to his movie counterpart's upbringing in mexico, which plays into this, since district 10's between the poorest districts of panem
JOSEPH TREMBLAY: DISTRICT 1
he's got a big ass hand doesn't he...... it really is all i can focus when watching this gif. oh wow. i wish i had found a less saturated one but it turns out that he isn't a particularly popular character in the fandom, which is already small enough, so. yk. we have to make do, i think
anyways, onto the current subject: this one is based on district 1's geographic location and also tremblay's overall personality and backstory from the book. first of all, if we're gonna talk about the cardinals as potential tributes, let me say that it is described in the book that he was a hockey player in his youth, before getting into the church and all that, and that leads me to believe that tremblay would be a career tribute
not only that, but i also really relate the district's industry (luxury articles) to tremblay's personality because. come on now. in the book, lomeli literally describes him walking inside the holy see with a fucking nike bagJDKSJDSKAK he's sooo ridiculous. it kind of makes me like him a little. besides, tremblay is canadian and, if i'm not mistaken, district 1's territory does include parts of canada (of course, i could be wrong about that), alongside districts 7 and 9
GOFFREDO TEDESCO: DISTRICT 2
i need him so fucking bad i could cry. fun fact: the first time i saw this scene i thought he was either smoking a cigarrette or a cigar, like a NORMAL person. then i found out he was smoking a vape and i was so fucking disappointed. I swear to God .
when we're talking about tedesco, we'll completely disregard geography, since none of the districts could possibly include parts of italy's territory (really, truly unfortunate for me) and focus solely on what i think based completely on his personality
so! i'm ngl, it was kinda hard to try and see in which district he would fit in, and my first thought was that he'd come from one of the poorer districts because it's described in the book that tedesco comes from a poor family of twelve children, of which he was the youngest, in south italy and all that, and that led me to think he'd either be from 7 or 8
then i thought harder, and i ended up assigning him to district 2 because as much as he used to be poor, i believe his personality/politics play much harder in my decision, once we consider the fact that district 2 were. um. basically the capitol's puppy. and if we remember tedesco is a downright fascist... yk where i'm going with this. besides, i really enjoy the thought of him as a career tribute
HONORABLE MENTIONS: the ones i didn't elabore further because, if i did, i'd be repeating myself
SISTER AGNES: CAPITOL (for the same reasons as lawrence—she's got an awful "rich girl" vibe that i can't quite shake, and that makes it impossible for me to see her in any of the districts)
JOSHUA ADEYEMI: DISTRICT 2 (for the same reasons as tedesco—his politics, traditionalist views and his overall personality).
GIULIO SABBADIN: DISTRICT 13 (for the same reasons as bellini—politics, the similar views he shares with bellini, wish for reformation in the church and all that).

free my girl she did all that shit but the fandom is mischaracterizing her for it
free my girl she has the same character traits as a male character but is getting deemed a bitch for them
free my girl she acted irrationally in a situation where it was impossible to act rationally and is now being hated for it
