āI want everyone I care aboutāI want people I donāt even know, I want all of usāto know we have each otherās backs so we do not have to fight alone.ā
ā Alec Lightwood, Born to Endless Night by Cassandra Clare
Morning runs were Gideon Prewettās alone time. He was a man constantly surrounded by people so at 4 am while the rest of the world was asleep, Gideon was running. He enjoyed how not even the first light of day encapsulated the world, and that the only sounds he could hear were his own foot steps and breathing. Every once in a while he would run into someone and with a solemn nod continue on his way. Today was no different, he had been running for two miles already without any sign of other people. He figured heād go for another mile or so before turning back towards the gym as he was enjoying his morning. As he rounded a bend a figure came in sight ahead of him, and a set of keys lying on the ground between them.Ā āHey!ā Gideon called out, stooping to pick up the keys before quickening his pace to catch up to the person in front of him.Ā āHey, sorry I think you dropped theseā Gideon explained as he tapped the person on the shoulder, holding out the keys.Ā
The curfew had the weird effect to make Benjy feel like a vampire or a prisoner, and the sole idea of being told not to leave his house whenever he wanted sounded pretty stupid to him. Therefore, there was this oppressing feeling that would strike right on time when the clock ticked 9pm, and with it came the unstoppable need to breath some fresh air. Benjy had found out, after some hesitations, that no aurors would be found hunting down the streets in search of muggleborns or halfbloods at the crack of dawn, which granted Amadeus a new morning walk while sadly erasing even more hours from his sleeping schedule.
This day was no exception and they were now reaching the end of their walk. A slight rainy drizzle had started to fall on London and Benjy's hair was already starting to curl, and he was about to bend and pat Amadeus' head when a hand landed on his shoulder. He had ignored the first call out thinking that he wasn't the subject of attention, but when a voice calmly boomed beside his ear a sudden fear of being arrested and sent to Azkaban moved Benjy to turn around.
Thankfully, the flash of red hair busied his vision and a relieved sigh left Benjy's lips as he extended his hand to received his keys. "Oh thanks Gideon," he said and comforted Amadeus with a pat, knowing that his dog had felt the anxiety and was reacting consequently by rubbing his muzzle against his thigh. "I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings but it's nice seeing you, how have you been?"

saxrowle:
The sight of Benjy Fenwick beside her table was a bit of a shock to the system, but Simone smiled immediately upon recognizing him. At least he was pleasant and welcome company. Sure, sheād only technically met and spoke with him once after one of her shows, but he had been friendly and polite and it left a positive impression on her. She shook her head at his apology, the smile still resting on her lips.Ā āItās alright. I donāt mind distractions from my thoughts every once in awhile.ā Sometimes letting herself be distracted was better and easier than sitting around consumed by her own worries.Ā
At his question, she nodded and sat up straighter gesturing to the chair.Ā āYes, of course! Please, feel free to sit.ā Sipping her drink while she waited for him to join her, she flashed a smile up at him.Ā āAnything in particular you wanted to talk about?āĀ
The honesty coming out of Simoneās invitation pleasantly surprised Benjy, and he thanked her silently before taking his seat and resting his cup in front of her. āWell Iāve heard from some friends that you joined the ranks of a certain⦠organization today,ā he said with a tranquil smile after a bit, finding it logically much safer to quiet the Orderās name in public places. āTherefore I wanted to welcome you now since I wasnāt able to attend todayās meeting.ā A sip of his coffee interrupted his announce, and he looked over the rim of his cup to see her reaction.
Benjy wondered if she would get his message, and yet he would also understand it if she played the perplexity card. The Order wasnāt a topic you could bring at anyoneās table since there was, nowadays, nothing more secretive than the composition of the current warās assets. Thus, starting the conversation with her theater company might have been a better idea, and a little bit embarrassed by his lack of tact, Benjy crossed his hands over the table. āIām of course talking about what youāre thinking Miss Rowle, but as you can see, Iām not very good at this whole secret agent thingy.ā A chuckle escaped his lips, hopefully lightening the tense mood that came when the Order was mentioned.

Nice Weather +OPEN+
gray-grass:
Grayson gleamed as the man offered him a donut, grateful for the gracious strangerās offer. London was an alright place once you got the hang of it, or if you found the right people to help you out. This guy was not only nice, but his smile was contagious and those were his favorite kind of donuts and so he had no choice but to go back underneath the overhang with his newly found acquaintance.Ā āIf youāre offering, Iāll gladly take one.ā Grayson nodded and held out his hand cordially.Ā āGrayson Greengrass, my friends call me Gray.ā
The sandy blonde looked into the box and his eyes widened and focused on the banana donut.Ā āThatās so cheeky, banana is my favorite kind as well.ā Grayson, being a complete and utter gentleman, wasnāt about to take this guyās donut away from him, and thought of a quick solution.Ā āIāll split them with you, if thatās alright.āĀ
Grayson looked up and into the gentlemanās kind eyes, trying to figure out where he had seen the man from. Maybe had they met in a bar or something, Grayson would have offered to pay for his drink or something. But they were stuck in the rain, although not permanently because all they had to do was transfigure umbrellas. He shrugged off the thought and looked down for a moment, and then back up again.Ā āItās nice to meet such a friendly face in these parts.āĀ
Benjy shifted a little on the side to let the other man have enough place out of the rain, and the movement brought a sudden puff of rusty vanilla to his nose, probably thanks to the manās cologne. Benjy chuckled and offered his hand in exchange, noting at the same time a slight accent in Graysonās voice when he had introduced himself. āBenjy Fenwick, nice to meet you.ā He replied and chuckled at Graysonās facial expression at the sight of the donuts.
āOf course go ahead, thatās a great idea,ā Nodding along, Benjy smiled thankfully and even though he wouldnāt have minded at all if Grayson had taken the banana donut, he still appreciated the attention brought in the gesture. He found himself good-naturedly cheery and he was quite glad he had decided to offer his donut to Grayson.
The accentuated eye contact was, for the most part, not as uncomfortable as it would have usually been with a complete stranger, which immediately made Benjyās brain tickle in a pleasant way. Being around strangers wasnāt one of his favorite activities and Benjy would sometimes find himself struggling more than the average to feel at ease around crowds or too many unknown faces. He lived for the quiet and solitude spent being his screens with Amadeus warming his ankles, not for the chatter and the sparkle of society. Curiously, it also seemed that Grayson was hesitating or maybe not finding the words to say something, and the silence stretching between wasnāt bothering at all. Benjy took a slow bite of his half donut and smiled back, raising two eyebrows at the remark. āDoes that mean youāre not originally from London then?ā He asked genuinely curious, then finished his donut and placed one palm in the crook of his elbow, mostly in lieu of crossing his arms while his other hand was still occupied by the box. āIām sorry if itās indiscreet but Iāve noticed your accent and I donāt think I have ever seen a true Londonian as convivial as you.ā

The Mentor | Benjy & Marlene | 06/02/2018
mck-tt-n:
Marlene smiled at his words, although to be honest, she hadnāt really stopped smiling since theyād started talking. They just got along so easily so fast, she couldnāt help but feel overly excited about this already, even though they hadnāt even gotten started.Ā āWell, itās not always peaceful. Especially now, a lot of people comment on my posts and they are anything but peaceful, but thatās a lot due to the fact that what I post is intentionally controversial. It just depends on what you decide to post and who you follow. It can be a peaceful space, I think, just not⦠for me. Not with what Iām doingā, she explained with a shrug. It probably sounded tragic, but it really wasnāt for her. Marleneās posts were deliberately provocative a lot of times and she knew that many people would find them offensive or have something to criticize either about the post or just about her in general. That was the price of putting herself out there, of basically screaming her opinion at the world. She had never expected for it to be easy, for there to be no backlash - after all, her intention was to get a discussion rolling. And Social Media was just her way of doing it.
As Benjy got out his phone, Marlene watched him somewhat patiently, trying not to sway back and forth on her feet like a little child might do. She really was just about the opposite of patient and even just the few seconds waiting for Benjy to give her a time and date made her fidget a little. As soon as he suggested the next day, her face lit up. She lit him finish speaking out of the politeness that had been drilled into her by her mother for times like this, but all Marlene wanted to do was agree immediately. His hesitation upon mentioning his plans for the first session made her smile and she was already nodding by the time he finished his explanation.
āTomorrow works out good with me. And honestly, youāve already won me over with the promise of donuts. I love baked goods too much for my own goodā, Marlene explained with a chuckle as she stuffed her right hand into her backpocket. She was becoming too excited, too antsy at the idea of finally starting some semblance of training after sheād been waiting for a few months now and she didnāt want to seem like she couldnāt stay still. Which, to be fair, was exactly the case, but it wasnāt like she had to make it all that obvious.Ā āWell, how about we just meet tomorrow and you know, eat donuts,ā her smile widened even more,Ā āand then we can also make a plan for the next sessions?ā
This part of social medias was definitely the one that Benjy had the hardest time with. He knew what if felt like to stand in the eye of the storm when it came to medias, press or even celebrity, and to hear Marlene talk about her current experience made it hard for him to focus on the good sides of this lifestyle. She was slowly becoming a public figure, and he couldnāt help but wonder if she had any idea of the consequences that could come with it, or even if she knew how to deal with all this flow of attention in the comments she had mentioned. She seemed to be quite a clever girl, so there was probably no worries to have, but Benjy was invested in his role of mentor and the worry for he safety was already present in his mind. Thus, he hummed along considering his lack of experience on the matter -well at least compared to hers-, and in the end he was mostly curious to read some of the debates that could happen on her accounts.
A chuckle escaped his lips at her obvious excitement over donuts, and Benjy made a quick mental note to visit the muggle bakery at the corner of his flat that he was particularly fond of, which had the particularity to offer one of the widest varieties of pastries he had ever witnessed.Ā āI canāt disagree with you on this one, if I could I would ban all vegetables or dishes from my diet in order to replace them by-ā and justĀ as he was about to address one of his favorite desserts, Benjyās phone started buzzing in the palm of his hand, and a fast look towards his screen confirmed that the call he had been waiting for all day long was finally happening.Ā āI apologize for cutting this meeting short Marlene, but I really need to take this call and I might be stuck on line for a long time,ā he announced with a sorry smile and reached out to pat her shoulder, realizing too lately how awkward that might feel for her.Ā
Admittedly, Benjy felt such at ease around Marlene that the gesture had seemed natural on the moment, yet he still felt the need to clear his throat to gather some composure.Ā āAnyways Iāll send you a text with the details, have a nice evening, it was a pleasure meeting you!ā He cheered, waved briskly and quickly picked upĀ before disappearing out of view.

āSo, if you are too tired to speak, sit next to me, because I, too, am fluent in silence.ā
ā R. Arnold (via lifeisthefight)
In front of a Food Truck near the Ministry Around noon, end of April OPEN starter
No matter the time spent since the curfewās establishment, Benjy was still having a hard time with the whole concept. The hardest part to digest was mostly the idea of treating a whole part of the wizarding population like prisoners or toddlers, as if a bloody curfew was supposed to protect them instead of more auror trainings or even actions against the real problem that were the Death Eaters. The bitterness was excruciating and as his usual self, Benjy felt the need to speak up or at least show discontentment to prove that this should be discussed and not just threatened into peopleās lives, as though they were all only speechless sheep that had no opinion on the matter.Ā Ā
Of course, there was no need to rush into things heads down, otherwise the fight would be short and useless. So Benjy started to find positivism in his daily life, such as a need to take advantage of the outdoors more than before, probably in order to counter the current lack of nocturnal freedom that came with the curfew. His meetings would still happen inside offices, but he had found it more agreeable to work in parks or terraces, and the Food Truck near the Ministry had the wonderful exclusivity of having free wifi and excellent sandwiches, owning logically a golden place in his heart.Ā This morning had been spent helping a friendly entrepreneur who needed advice for her first company, and Benjy had instinctively made his way to this truck for lunch. It wasnāt far and thankfully he had arrived right before the rush of muggle and wizard employees.Ā
After taking a bite of his sandwich, Benjy looked up from his phone and raised his eyebrows at the sight of a familiar face helplessly looking for a place to seat, since the whole space was already full. The truck had gained a lot of popularity the last few weeks, probably thanks to a social media advertisement from some popular account, and thus free spots had become quite the rarity no matter the additions of tables and chairs around the place. After a few seconds needed to take his decision, Benjy straightened up and cleared his throat to catch the personās attention, indicating the empty chair in front of him with a wave of his hand,Ā āI know how regretful it can get to eat standing, so please donāt hesitate to join me if that can help.ā He offered with a welcoming smile.
