So lemme get this straight…This is how Mike reacted to El’s kiss at the end of season 3. And keep in mind this was the last time he saw her before they moved away. He looks somewhat shocked even though they’ve kissed many times? She also told him she loves him here but why would that be such a shock to him when he said earlier in the season he loved her too?
But this is how he was reacting towards Will when he was leaving. The way he was smiling at him when Will said he wasn’t going to find another party.
And how tearful he was during their last hug.
He showed more emotion in these two moments than he did when his own girlfriend was kissing him goodbye?
And to make things worse, he’s not even really thinking about the kiss or the love confession after. He’s looking back sadly at Will’s house.
And then he goes to find comfort in his mom, similar to how he did when he thought he lost Will forever in season one.
Then we get to season 4 and Mike and El have their fight about how Mike can’t tell El he loves her anymore. And he can’t even write it in his letters.
Even in the moment he can’t tell El that he loves her. But a few episodes later, he’s able to tell Will how he feels he lost him and how Hawkins isn’t the same without him. And this is how he’s looking at him???
I genuinely think Mike had an epiphany at the end of season 3 because something definitely changed within him from then until now.
