This is just a list of prefixes I’ve currently decided to research and most likely include. Some may not make the cut. This list is absolutely not complete. If you have any suggestions, chuck them in my asks.

Note for myself: words with asterisks may have many variations, and may have to be expanded into multiple prefixes.

Note: shortening to Roo- is fine, if that’s what you prefer.

There are four types of kangaroos in Australia and two species of tree-kangaroos. However, considering how tiny the range of the tree-kangaroos is, I’m not including them. I’ve also elected not to include the Kangaroo Island kangaroo (a subspecies of the Western Grey kangaroo) for similar reasons.

The species this prefix refers to (and by extension the colour associated with the prefix) will depend on the location of the clan. In places where the ranges of two or more species are overlapping, it’s up to you to decide whether the prefix will apply to all of the present species or one in particular.

Some of these species display sexual dimorphism in their colouring - I would advise against only giving the prefix to female cats who match the female kangaroo colours, and likewise with males. For example, if a female cat had dark ginger (red) fur, she should still be eligible for the prefix even though the red colouring is mostly only seen in male kangaroos.

Red Kangaroo - a solid dark ginger or brown-grey cat.

Antilopine Kangaroo - a solid brown-grey cat or ginger-and-brown tortoiseshell.

Western Grey Kangaroo - a solid grey, grey-brown or dusky brown cat.
