Detachment From Work
"Mother Teresa of Calcutta once said,Â
'However beautiful the wrok is, be detached from it, even ready to give it up. The work is not yours. The talents God has given you are not yours; they have been given to your for your use, for the glory of God.' When you are prayerfully detached from your work, you can be more discerning about which crosses God wants you to carry and which ones are of your own choosing. Time devoted to prayer will help you remain grateful and focused on your call. Prayerfulness lets you step back from the many demands of life and ask what God wants of you in a particular situation. Too often, there is a temptation to respond to situations based on the needs of others, the threats of a harsh conscience, or fear of what people might think or how they might react. Such a lack of discernment about difficult choices can have poor consequences--not just for your but for others as well.... What is the one thing God is asking of you in your situation?" Robert J.
