Have you wanted to read a well-written book that portrays a healthy chemistry between the two protagonists? What about the two protaginists being homosexual young adults? Well Carry On is the book for you! Carry On, in summary, is the story about wizards, vampires, and fizing the magical universs all Harry-Potter esc. The relatiobship between the main characters, Baz and Simon, first starts off rocky, but over time it builds into a trustful, loving relstionship with playful bickering. And while Simon originally did not realize his sexuality, Baz knew from his 5th year. The relationship buds, and they begin to trust each other and confide in themselves about their feelings and emotions. Even through their struggles of fixing the magic dead-areas, they build a healthy relationship. In many YA novels, the relationships between the two main protagonists is often sudden and forced top quickly. These relationships often end up unhealthy, with the main male character being a complete jerk, uncaring and unforgiving to the female love interest. And while Baz and Simon often fight, it is on both ends and is understandable. Through their flaws, they balance each other out, and prove that even opposites can show a healthy relationship. -Mod Matt

In Shawn Mendes' latest, he does bring to light a serious topic and gives valuable information at the end of his video, but...we are going to pick on his lyrics a bit. He recognizes that this young lady is in an unhealthy relationship, which is great, but instead of offering her help and building her up, he just says to dump the guy and start going out with him because he would treat her better. He then puts all the pressure on her and does a little victim blaming when he says, "And anytime you want it to stop...Tell me why are we wasting time, On all your wasted crime, When you should be with me instead." Woah, back off a little there buddy, just how is this better? Is this what a gentleman would say? If you notice someone in an abusive relationship, offer support, help, and refer to a domestic violence shelter. They don't need a replacement partner, they need understanding, patience, a listening ear, a supportive friend. They may need safety because leaving is the most dangerous time for someone. Yes, she deserves better, no one deserves to be hurt emotionally, verbally, or physically. But slow down and think of their needs, not your own. Let them heal before pouncing.
