While coming home from school, Paul accidentally catches a mysterious glowing object falling from the sky. He doesn't think too much of it, until the next day when a new student named John arrives in class and seems to take an interest in him, specifically asking that he be the one to show John around school. Paul is a little put off by John's clinginess, but it's nothing he can't handle. Then strange things start happening, mostly whenever he's being antagonized by someone. To top it off, when he gets home, he learns that his dad has been chosen to take John in as a homestay student! Finally, Paul decides to confront John - only for John to reveal himself as an alien prince (with powers of flight, telekinesis and a mild hypnosis), much to Paul's surprise. But that's only the first shock, as John then cheerfully informs Paul that he has fallen in love with Paul - and that, according to the customs of his species, they're now dating! It seems that the glowing object Paul found is used to find a suitable future mate for the heir to the throne, and by catching it, he unintentionally made himself that mate (normally, they'd be engaged and not just dating, but seeing as how they're still in school, John decided to postpone the engagement until adulthood). Needless to say, Paul isn't very happy that his entire life has been hijacked by a celestial matchmaking ritual he didn’t even know existed. Seeing how hurt John is at an outright objection, however, he starts feeling a little guilty (after all, John IS legitimately kind and enthusiastic), so he makes John a deal - he'll give the relationship a try, but no more clinginess, minimal use of powers (John can't stop using his powers completely, as they go out of control if he doesn't use them on a regular basis), no using powers to cheat at stuff, and if Paul still doesn't reciprocate John's feelings by the time they're old enough to be officially engaged, then the engagement is off and John has to find a new mate. John agrees, so Paul's new life begins. But hey, having a magical boyfriend might not be such a bad thing - as long as he can stop John from accidentally exposing himself as an alien, that is.
