First things first, aging up characters??? Is literally fucking saying "Oh haha you're a child, and that's weird..." /I don't want to see a child in this situation, so I'll make you an adult, instead/
'Hey, a sixteen year old shouldn't be drinking alcohol. Think about that when you're an adult.' isn't "pushing alcohol onto minors." It's saying that alcohol is not for minors, while still acknowledging that kids will grow up some day.
'I'm not comfortable thinking about a teenager having sex, so let's imagine that they're old enough to /not be a child/ and mature enough to understand the weight of their decisions" ((ultimately, the issue with pedophilia is that children cannot consent, as they are not mentally mature enough to)) The author is literally acknowledging that the idea of minors having sex makes them uncomfortable, but no they're a pedophile- someone who is /attracted to minors (in a sexual manor)/

A trauma survivor who suffers from nightmares might want to write out what happened to them in order to vent- even if they can't bring themselves to read anything like that.
Some trauma survivors want to imagine a world where what they went through was worse to calm their fears.
Some trauma survivors want to imagine a scenario where what they went through was what they thought it was- they want to imagine it as if it was fluffy and happy and loving.
Some trauma survivors want to see themselves overcoming their pasts.
Some want to feel like they're not alone, missing all of the red flags up around them.
Some want to imagine a world where they DID see the red flags and got out.
All of those people are valid. There isn't a right way to cope! "It does more harm than help," is absolute bullshit. Some of the people that do write/draw/create such content are literally victims. Some of the people are victims that can't create for themselves.
No one is FORCING you to click on the ten k smut oneshot of a character lusting after their teacher. (A consent that is VERY popular in mainstream porn, but rooted in the oh so scary age gaps and power imbalances that make such content "problematic")
Some adult that remembers being that kid might want to click on it to have a laugh at their past self.
A hormonal teen with a huge crush on their teacher might click on that.
Someone who was exploited by their teacher might click on that to imagine a world where it wasn't that bad.
Someone who was exploited by their teacher might break out, sweating and shaking at the mere THOUGHT of clicking on that. So you know what they do? They scroll past. Next time, they filter those responses out.
And you know what? Maybe a week later, that same person has a nightmare and needs to imagine a different outcome where they weren't as badly damaged.
One size does NOT fit all, so fuck off with your "some trauma survivors" guilt trip.
Also, the point wasn't (these age gaps aren't that bad), it was: some people have called those "pedophilic" for no reason other than they don't like them.
Well how do you know that other people who advocate for "proshipping" aren't pedophiles and creeps and rapists! Well you know what? You don't, unless they mention in their little bio that they wish they could get away with that in real life or if they post an actual child and call it sexy or something.
How do YOU know that the other people who advocate as "antis" aren't just using that as an excuse to harass innocent writers and artists for moral superiority? How do you know that they're not getting their kicks to sending people with "minors don't interact" or people with ages under eighteen death threats and SUICIDE baits?
Is the blog being called out ACTUALLY a pedophile? Or did they just disagree with o/p in 2010.
^ THAT ^ is GENUINELY harmful to both survivors and non survivors.
Innocent creators being labeled as "pedophiles" because they said "you can write fucked up shit, just tag it so I dont accidentally click on it," is not only completely harmful to that person, but also to people who are trying to create safe spaces for themselves, for everyone who ACTUALLY wants to run pedophiles off of their spaces.
The word "pedophile" has been DRASTICALLY watered down. Why? Spoiler alert: it's not because of the people properly tagging their fucked up fanfiction.
The witch trials burned a lot more innocents than they did witches, and you know what happened to that word after? No one took it seriously.
The only difference? Pedophiles are genuine threats.
Shippers aren't the ones "helping" pedophiles.
It's the people who throw around heavy words without taking two minutes to think about the real world consequences of those actions.
