clean up after yourself. seriously. pick up your clothes, do your dishes (or at least rinse them off and put them in the dishwasher), don’t leave a mess. come on.

don’t go through the house / room / whatever and leave every light on. if you know you’re leaving a room and won’t be returning immediately, turn the light off!!! no one wants to pay a high electric bill just because you’re lazy.

don’t be passive aggressive!!! if you need something done, just politely ask your roommate/s to take care of it! you can even shoot them a text saying ‘hey, can you please _______ for me? thank you!!” it’s a lot better than leaving notes on shit or just stomping around and ignoring them.

be considerate. if your roommate is in their room with the door closed at night, you can probably assume they’re trying to go to bed soon. so don’t be shouting and playing music and watching tv super loud!! if you have guests over, tell them to be considerate and quiet down.

on that note: respect your roommate’s space and belongings. just because your boyfriend’s an asshole doesn’t mean he gets to touch all of your roommate’s shit without asking. tell him to quit it!
