"love?"

the name sounds distant from your noise-cancelling headphones, and you slide them off of your ears once the name is called again.

"in here, ol!" you push yourself away from your gaming set up, smile already on your face before the man of the hour appears in the doorframe. ollie grins at you sleepily, dark brown eyes just as alluring as usual as he waves shyly at you.

"hey," you smile, standing up from your chair and walking over to your boyfriend. ollie doesn't respond too quickly, letting the hug he gives you do the talking as you wrap your arms around him. he smells fresh, skin still damp from the shower he must have just finished.

"how are you?" you ask, and ollie hums lowly, looking down at you as he pecks your lips once, then twice. "i'm doing good. glad to be at home with you."

"awww," you coo, sighing as ollie runs his hand up and down your back. "i missed you today, you know. played some races today and ended up setting a new record on your favorite track."

ollie's eyes seem to sparkle at that, and he grins with uncontained joy. "i knew you could do it! god, that makes me so proud."

on your tiptoes now, you stretch up to kiss ollie. he welcomes the kiss easily, face heating up with the blush that blooms under his skin as you pull away moments later. "wanna watch me play?"

ollie nods happily, letting you lead him by his hand to your gaming room. it's cozy and warm, just how you like it, and ollie seems to instantly melt at the familiarity of it all. he's at home here, waiting for you to sit in your chair before he pulls one up beside you, hands patiently planted in his lap as he watches the screen transition from one screensaver to the other.

"are we doing more sim races tonight?" ollie's voice is soft as he leans in, lips brushing your hand as you run a hand through his short-cropped brown hair in return.

"i was thinking we could play a relaxing game. maybe minecraft? or stardew valley?" you question, and ollie brightens up at the second option, nodding quickly.

"stardew!" he excitedly announces, flushing a few seconds later and clearing his throat before repeating the word again, albeit a little less excited and high-pitched.

giggling, you shake your head, looking over at ollie as you cup his cheek. "you don't have to force yourself to contain your excitement. i know just how much you like stardew valley."

"of course you do," ollie answers sheepishly, grinning nevertheless before you peck his lips another two times.

"sit back and relax, ol," you smile, gently pressing his chest back into his own gaming chair as he beams at you. "don't feel pressured to stay awake to watch. let me know when you've had enough, and we can turn in for tonight."

"okay, i will." ollie nods, reaching for your hand and squeezing it once. "thank you, love. you don't know how much i needed this." the sigh that escapes your boyfriend's lips instantly softens your heart, and you nod, unable to stop the smile from spreading across your face.

"of course, ol. just take it easy for me, okay? let's have some fun." you smile, and ollie nods, leaning back and letting you do your thing as you boot up stardew valley. before you know it, ollie's fighting sleep hard, head on your shoulder and constantly slipping off of it with how hard he's trying to stay awake.

"hey," you call out softly, finally powering off your desktop for the night. brushing ollie's bangs from his face, you shake him gently. he stirs, dark brown eyes sleepily opening as he smiles. "hm?"

"you forgot to tell me you've had enough." you laugh softly, and ollie mumbles something akin to "sorry, love" before you kiss his temple and tug his half-asleep figure to bed with you.

"hello, mi princesa." carlos kisses your cheek in greeting, softly pecking it as his hand slides around your waist. you look up at him, letting him touch his nose with yours before you pull away first, continuing the conversation with your friends.

everyone seemed to notice you and carlos more this past week.

because of your family-friend's upcoming wedding, the whole family had gathered together for a week-long celebration at the beach. carlos and you had gravitated towards each other the moment you landed on the sands, and hadn't been able to be torn apart since.

the history between you two was the familiar one that everyone could recall off the top of their head: carlos was your brother's best friend, and basically became your brother by default. he teased you every chance he'd get, pranking you with fake bugs and poking fun at you with terrible jokes that were nowhere near being funny.

you were the whiny younger sister who became upset at almost everything carlos said or did, and it was a running joke in your family that you two were doomed to hate each other for the rest of your lives.

that was, until both of you started seeing each other in a different light.

you started to notice how tall and strong carlos was becoming. how rich and melodic his spanish accented voice was when he spoke. the way he had to have his hand somewhere on your body when the two of you were together.

carlos noticed it too—how you became more soft-spoken, still headstrong in what you wanted. how you started to find your own style. the way you always had to whisper in his ear or stare him down to get his attention.

and both of you were finally on the edge because of it. both of you wanted the other to make one slip up, one mistake. you wanted to see the other fall apart.

"that dress is gorgeous on you. was that the one i bought for you?" carlos asks absentmindedly, pretending to pay attention to what's happening in front of him as he leans down and whispers in your ear. you place your hand on his chest, shaking your head as you respond. "no. i bought this a few nights ago when i went out with my girl friends."

"it looks good, princesa. hugs you perfectly," carlos's full lips brush your ear when he speaks, and you shiver in delight, giggling as you hide the sound behind your hand.

carlos looks drop dead gorgeous himself—with a white linen button-up showing just the perfect amount of his tanned skin and sea-salt breeze tousled chestnut brown hair to fall around his strong jawline, his looks could kill any lucky girl at this beach party tonight.

"why are you laughing at me? hm?" he questions, raising an eyebrow as you sigh in glee. "nothing, carlos. hush up and pay attention to the story."

"the only thing i can seem to pay attention to right now is how good you look in that dress. and how bad i want to take you out to a random palm tree, away from everybody else, and—"

"carlos!" you gasp in surprise, cheeks flushing with the implications he left to you as you swat his arm. "you're insane."

"insane and in love with you."

that's the breaking point for you two, you think. you're not really sure though—you can't remember much after you pull him away from the crowd, body on fire with something that's definitely akin to passion as he follows behind you, chuckling like a little school boy.

the tiki-post lamps flicker around the palm trees, giving both of you enough light to see each other. carlos has his hands on your waist, pushing you against the trunk of a palm tree as he searches your gaze. his dark eyes are lit with adoration, lips parting as he pants heavily.

"may i kiss you, princesa? has the moment i've been waiting for for years finally come?" carlos pleads softly, spanish accent strong in his words as he sighs dreamily against you. you nod, wanting nothing more from him as you press your head to his.

"please, carlos. kiss me. right here, right now. i dare you," you respond, hands flying to carlos's thick strands as he nods, finally closing the distance between you for the first time.

you definitely can't remember much more after the kiss carlos gives you.
