❛ look, all i’m saying is there should be less shame in ordering pumpkin spice lattes. its a good drink. you can’t change my mind !! ❜ was fallon intentionally starting rants about pointless things to avoid homework? absolutely. 

“I’m going to get the longest lecture of my life from all of the Defenders and then my mom’s going to kill me.” Luke complained from the floor. The overeager boy was covered in bruises and ice packs after trying to take on way more than he could handle. “I didn’t even get to come up with a cool name or outfit yet and she’s going to kill me.” Sure, he was an under experienced human, but he couldn’t just sit back and do nothing about all the sudden crime. This was his chance to help others and prove himself, it just didn’t go as well as he thought it would. “I don’t even have to tell her. Her mom senses will just know.”

Estela frowned, concern clear in her furrowed brow and other features.“I promise not to tell.” She said, pausing for a second before her next words. “If you promise to be more careful next.” Truthfully, she never had any interest in becoming a hero like her mom or any of the defenders she grew up around. She understood it to some extent, understood the need to help people who needed it, felt it herself. However, superheroics never appealed much to her. No, science, and now teaching, felt like a much more concrete way to help. “Maybe, maybe not. Mom senses aren’t as all encompassing as you think.” Another pause, “Are you okay?”

“If only I could do your phone calls, I would. I’m forced to make a lot of them everyday so, there’s that.” Ted says with a chuckle. “I think students would rather email anyway, don’t you think? It’s just a lot easier.”

 Uwe has messed up his relationship, he had no one to blame but himself. Part of him though knew he should at least acknowledge his own kid’s birthdays.  So there Uwe was a wrapped present in his hand. He was taken aback but he didn’t show it. “I just wanted to say happy late birthday to Cesar.” Uwe sighed. “I did call this morning but no one picked up.” There was a pause. 

“So can I come in?” Uwe asked harsher then intended.  

“I didn’t think being a TA for this many languages would be tiring and we’ve not been in school for a week yet. Not even training can get me like this unless my goal is to tire myself out. I think I’m going to need more than a cup of coffee to get me through this week.”

“The problem with emails is that you have to answer them. You answer one and then you get three more.” Ted of course uses his email for other things too, so there was that. “Why don’t you think that you can get away with it?”

“Thats why i just use emails”Xander shrugged as he spoke to the older woman”My grandma said that you should just imagine them on the toliet if it makes you feel any better”Xander smiled

“now that is what they call a mood and a half.” okay - she wasn’t THAT out of touch with the slang of the kids today, that she considered it something that ‘they’ said. but there were certain parts of being considered an adult that distanced her from those things, and others that she wished she was allowed distance herself from. like phone calls, for example. “y’know what’s WORSE than regular calls? making appointments over the phone. thanks, but, i’d rather succumb to my headcold than talk through my symptoms with a receptionist who’s probably filing her nails as we speak.”

“I’m not dealing with - at least trying not to.”

“That sounds more than a little unhealthy. Things only get worse when you ignore them.”

❝ i hate talking on the phone, ❞ the pink haired mutant admits, hands fidgeting on her lap. ❝ it kind of terrifies me. i’d rather just text people. ❞

“They should be outlawed,” the punk mused with a little laugh as his feet propped on her desk – lounging in the seat provided. “Dentist?” An attempt at a guess to who was on the other line.

        she wasn’t exactly listening in on the situation / but had simply been seated nearby idly flicking through some magazines.   her smile is light as she replied, ‘ oh come, they’re not really that bad are, they ? i mean, unless the person on the other end is an absolute – ‘ she catches herself before a curse stumbled out, but her harsh grimace of a smile effectively conveyed her message.

Alice couldn’t help but giggle. “Why doesn’t anyone like phone calls?” she said. “You’re just talking to someone, the only difference is you’re not in the same room. I like talking on the phone, but then again, I just like talking to people.”

“There are lots of reasons not to like phone calls.” Estela said. Over the phone, she got tongue-tied more often than during face to face conversations. “Body language is an important part of conversation, sometimes. I can, of course, can see why people would prefer face to face conversations.”

“Tell me about it, aren’t they the worst?” Ted says as he leans against the doorframe. “I mean I’m used to making them, I can’t avoid it, but I’d rather talk to people in person or at least through an email.”

“No, I do not want to talk about it.”

“Are you sure? Talking can be really helpful when dealing with things.”
