Hats off Incident Commnd Good video on traffic incident management. Next month's training is based on Incident Commnd. With that we need to remember to manage the entire scene and play nice with all of the other agencies involved.

We just looked at audio and video from a mayday situation. During monthly training and the Recruit Academy we practice and discuss when and how to call a mayday. But what about our Incident Commanders? What do you do when you are in the front yard and the terrible “Mayday Mayday Mayday!” comes over the radio?
This video reminds you of some things to think about and plan for managing a mayday.

Chicago Fire Dept teamed up with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to create a video emphasizing that EVERYONE GOES HOME. This is an excellent video that we encourage everyone to watch, absorb, and practice. We hope everyone has the courage to wear all of their PPE, watch out for each other and work safely on every incident.

Remember Vehicle Fire Training last month...?
Take a look at this vehicle fire recently caught on tape. Put yourself into this incident. Try thinking about your actions first as the apparatus operator that has just been dealt a surprising set of problems. Think about the issues of your apparatus and the steps needed to achieve your plan. (A piece of paper or the station whiteboard might be helpful.) Then watch it again and look as the attack crew to see what actions you could take to change this outcome.
