The Truman Show was shot in Seaside, Florida, one of the first communities designed under the principles of New Urbanism. The film makes effective use of some of the successes and shortcomings of the town- the utopian and comfortably nostalgic feeling of human-scaled, walkable neighborhoods, countered by a sense of eerie architectural pastiche and contrivance, almost reminiscent of a theme park or, indeed, a movie set.
