Thank you for this very new way of expressing what I have learnt.

Wow I'm glad all I had to go through was getting my licence, getting the car, getting the job, moving out of home....stock standard

Society needs to be more excepting of the fact that the world is made up of all different kinds and types of people.  Not everyone fits into a perfect cookie-cutter image.  Our schools are heading in the right direction with inclusion for all children.  There are many options for primary schools with resources for this but it tend to become null n void when a child reaches 16.  My daughter had all the help she could ever need up until this age, then the funding stopped (very abruptly) for that help and she was mainstreamed.  This is not easy for student or teacher.  I'm sorry if this sounds horrible but it's true - She was too intelligent for the funding to continue, but not intelligent enough for mainstream classes.  She has now moved on to a course for people with learning difficulties and is thriving.  But my point is that we need to offer support for every person at all schools, at all levels....everyone deserves an education. 

I never thought of the ice bucket challenge as peer pressure.  I thought it was a bit of fun and a way to raise awareness but now that I think about it, it could be seen as pressure to complete challenge, and if not completed you would not fit in with peers who have completed it.  Even in the comments at the bottom of the page there is bullying.  The joys of the internet.

This is so me at puberty....for about 5 years I did not want to be seen near, talking or even walking with my parents in public (and if a friend saw me with them was the worst thing in the world). They were so embarrassing.  The stupid thing was all of my friends knew who they were.  They had not changed, still the same people, but I was going through my own things with puberty.  I just could not relate to my parents in any way.

When googleing images of family this is what all of the pictures depicted.  1mum, 1 dad and then the children.  This really horrified me, where are the pictures of the single mums or dads or the grandparents and family members who are the families of now.  These images may show what society classes as family but not what is reality.  Not all children grow up with 2 let alone 1 parent.

There must be at least 50 reasons why parenting is the hardest job.  I have parents and am a parent, and this really is not easy.  You never know if what you are doing is going to work for your child or not.  My mums favourite saying was "I hope your child is just like you, or I can't wait for you to have kids and then you'll know".  Well I did and I have.  I can honestly say I based my parenting on what and how my parents taught me.  We learn how to be parents from our parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles.

We are not born with morals these are something we learn from our parents, friends and the community (but mainly parents and friends).   

 I grew up in a house with 3 older brothers and I was the only girl.  I don't know if this led me to try of was it just curiosity.

What do you think of this….The Edge radio station ran a competition to win tickets to World Cup Rugby. All you had to do was marry a person of the same sex, but you had to be not gay (marry your best friend). Many people were offended by this, as many NZer’s have fought long and hard to make gay marriage legal. They felt that the radio station was making a mockery of what they had fought for. Or do you think it was just a gimmick.
