“   remind  me  why  i  said  yes  to  this.   “   jets he can do  -  they’re large,  they’ve got leg room,  if he’s distracted enough it feels more like a bus than it does a plane.  what sits before them on the takeoff strip is most definitively not going to offer any illusions or escapes of the mind.  or have leg room.  he shoots carol a glance and,  despite himself,  does feel reassured by the sheer comfort she exudes with her gaze trained on the plane.  anxiety soothed does not necessarily mean he will not complain,  though.    “    we  better  beat  the  suvs  back  to  quanitico  or  you’ll  be  hearing  from  hr,  danvers.   “

"    did   she   now?    "     eyes  do  not  lift  from  where  they  are  lazily  glancing  through  a  newspaper  spread  over  his  crossed  legs,  thumb flicking the edge of thin paper to turn the page with an obnoxious rustle.  once upon a time,  he would have chided himself for the smile that he lets ring in his voice  -  he has moved past that,  for most part,  and doesn't mind if aaron hears the note of fond amusement that rests in his leisurely tone.     "     how  about  this,  i'll   deal   with   erin  --    "    the paper is closed,  folded,  and neatly placed on the table at his side,  but the offer is not completely out of the goodness of his heart   --   after all,  he has always been a man of ulterior motives,    "     if   you   agree   to   wear   a   hat.    "
