I’m making this post on the behalf of Hamza and his family, who are currently suffering in Gaza.

In Gaza, people’s incomes have been severely impacted for the past three years. Please consider helping my friend Hamza and his family — which includes several children— afford food and proper medical care as prices continue to be high and unstable.

These are primarily ones for Ghazzawi families although some fundraisers for Sudani families are also listed (I'm more familiar with my own country's politics and dialect and am more capable of vetting fundraisers for Palestinians as a result).

Saving Al-Geneina / Hope and Haven for Refugees - provides food, medical care, and education to refugees in sudan

Sudanese American Physicians Association's medical aid program - they operate a hospital in khartoum, **the ONLY hospital still delivering babies in sudan**

One Million Sustainable Pads Campaign - distributes reusable pads

FAH Supporting Sudan - financial assistance to sudanese hospitals, backed by the FAH / federation of american hospitals

Community kitchen in Cairo - provides food to refugees who have fled to egypt

Community kitchen in Sudan - provides food for 1200 families

Another community kitchen in Sudan - provides food, only £1,500 raised so far

Sanad Initiative - raises money to keep sudanese medical students in school

Sudan Solidarity Initiative - run by sudanese diaspora, provides direct funds to all kinds of sudanese including farmers unions and low cost clinics, also runs awareness-raising workshops

Fascists are using technology to control us and take away our rights. But resistance movements are using tech to fight back––organizing protests, raising money, and documenting human rights abuses.

This year, we’ve staved off dangerous censorship legislation like KOSA. We brought national attention to creeping surveillance on college campuses. We provided direct support and digital security advice to anti-ICE organizers, LGBTQ resource centers, and Palestine activists.1

As a small, queer-women run collective of activists, artists, and technologists, we’ve built a reputation as one of the most ruthless and effective activist organizations in the United States. But it’s an uphill battle, and in the last several years we’ve lost several major funding sources due to our principled and fearless positions

We’re coming up on the end of the year, and we are dangerously behind the fundraising goals we need to meet our budget. The democratic backsliding of the Trump era is taking a real toll: many traditional nonprofit funders are pulling back from supporting the type of aggressive activism we’re famous for, because they’re afraid of putting a target on their backs. Many of the startups and small tech projects that used to support our work have been gobbled up or run out of business by Big Tech monopolies.

We’re never going to compromise our values or water down our messaging to appease big dollar donors. That’s why our work is so dependent on the community of people who care about these issues. People like you.

We’ve got big plans in the coming year: like building a coalition of parents opposed to online censorship, and launching a major new campaign around the use of AI in hospitals and schools.1 But that means we’re more and more dependent on small, individual donations from all of you.

I know that's not a thing that translates well or easily to all languages or cultures or contexts - and still, I really, really do recommend it, or at least your version of it

We talk all the time about how lonely and isolated everyone is. How lonely and isolating society is right now, especially mainstream society, and especially in the United States

Open computer settings

Click on Accessibility on the left-hand menu

Scroll down the Accessibility menu and click on the Keyboard Option

Under the "related settings" tab, click "Typing" which should have a description of "spellcheck, autocorrect, text suggestions."

Turn off the AI "correct misspelled words"

and most importantly: turn off Typing Insights.

I mean, yeah, it says that..... for *now.*

It also only specifies that Microsoft themselves don't collect it, and they wouldn't have made this something that I was automatically, secretly opted in for without my knowledge if they didn't have something to be gained by me not knowing it exists!

I only found this because a cat walked on the keyboard and turned on Filter Keys and while trying to figure out why my keyboard was just making chirping noises instead of typing, I happened to click on "typing insights" by accident.
