My last two cross-stitch projects were so big, it was nice to go back to working on something I could finish in a few hours just for fun.

This is the BIGGEST project I've done to date, coming in at around 22x16 inches. I've been working on it since January 2025!
Based on this cover of The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, which I've been obsessed with ever since I first saw it.
what is your LEAST favorite stitch?
I don't like counted work at fucking all. So: the cross stitch.
reading this as someone who does cross stitch but is scared of the other kinds of embroidery is like overhearing an incredibly tall and buff person say they have beef with Mr. Tom, the kitten that chills at the bookstore
FUCK Mr. Tom and his stupid little fluffy tail ok. And his little charted designs.
Okay, but this neglects the true villain of embroidery stitches: the French knot
Don't you dare malign my girl again
Ok the french knot is very useful but it is a BITCH to do it consistently
This is my cross-stitching magnum opis: a recreation of the comic panel where Hellcat (aka Blorbo from my comics) makes her first appearance! I spent MONTHS working on this and I'm so happy it's finally finished.
(Ignore the crappy framing job. It was difficult because the project is an awkward size.)
This is the original panel, for reference:
So I've made a lot of cross-stitch projects that I don't display, and until recently I've been keeping them in a shoebox. I didn't really like the idea of just having them stuffed in a box, so I had the idea of putting them in an album. I found an old album in a thrift store that worked pretty well.
A while ago I reblogged a post about Antique Pattern Library. While browsing the site I found a PDF of an old French cross-stitching book, and I decided to recreate the cover for my album.
(I'm still trying to figure out the best way to attach it.)

This is my baby blanket that my grandma made for me. As you can see, I literally loved it to pieces. It was sitting in storage in this condition at my mom's for the past couple decades or so. The back had come off and the batting was pretty shredded.
Since it was so important to me as a kid I decided to take it out and try to restore it.
And here's the result! Luckily the front was still in pretty good condition, it just needed a wash. But I replaced the back, the batting and the binding (which I've never done before, so it's a little wonky in the corners). I'm so glad I was able to give my bunny blankie a new life.
K so not to be dramatic or anything, but there's a free vintage French pattern book available on antiquepatternlibrary so if you like to crochet/weave/make pixel art/tie epic friendship bracelets don't walk- RUN.
It has scenes from aesop's fables! Cherubs doing things! Beheadings! Greek muses! Little farm people! Intricate floral pattern! Goth stained-glass window like patterns! Fun little corner pieces! Eeeeeeeeeeeeee

This is so cool! I made the hare and tortoise pattern:
I've been attempting to make plushies lately, and I'm still getting the hang of it (this poor girl is understuffed so her head is all squishy π) This is a cat from a Simplicity pattern, but I'm pretending it's a squirrel so I can name her Tippy-Toe.
This looked a lot better in my head.
Cross-stitched my favorite scene from Invader Zim. Please ignore the terrible framing. Shortly after I took this photo I tried to reframe it but the glass broke. π©

Finished another @shitpostsampler pattern!
Made a pattern by @shitpostsampler ! I changed it to look like my mom's cat since I'm going to give this to her for her birthday (my mom, not the cat).
Zombie cat made from muslin (I found a big ol' bag of it at Goodwill) and an old scarf.
My entry in @shiftythrifting 's Halloween contest!
Made some spoopy friends.
Inspired by a post from @incorrectbuckoarchive

My first attempt at non-cross stitch embroidery. Itβs mostly just back stitching. Might try something a little more complex in the future.
Here's a little Office cross-stitch for your Thursday evening.
