Hey everyone! I know I havenât been on the rping side of tumblr very long at all. But you know, I think itâs time for me to go. There are quite a few people here Iâve grown attached to, and to the people who want to keep contact, Iâll be lurking on tumblr all through today while I pack my bags, so donât fret to jump in my ask for contact info! That said, there IS a reason Iâm leaving, and it isnât something quite as chipper. In the four months Iâve been in this community, Iâve noticed a disturbing trend of blaming, shaming, and hypocrisy, all throughout the group I managed to fall in with. It hasnât gotten any better, and there doesnât seem to be an attempt to remedy the massive cycle of passive aggressive hate that has reared its head over the weeks. I can honestly say I have never felt more exasperation, frustration, or stress as I have with some of the people here. The introduction a dear friend of mine got when she joined, combined with the huge superiority complex of some of the more senior rpers, and the theft of not only my profile (almost word for word), but also of another close friendâs art earlier in the year before I even JOINED the community did little to relieve my fears. As much as this community preaches about being open and thoughtful, many of the people who advocate these things go about openly harassing others in the name of âpreventing offenseâ. Often times, Iâm more offended by the Inquisition-esque hunting of the so-called offenders than the actual offenders themselves. Many of these offending issues could be settled privately through asks, fan mail, skype, msn, or email, but instead our crusaders decide to take this person and hold them up to the public for judgement. I donât know about you, but that seems too medieval for my tastes. And itâs not just my friends and acquaintancesâtotal strangers who Iâve met on here have the same stories of persecution to tell, regardless of what character they play or who they play with. Please keep in mind this is directed towards no single person, but is a curious behavior that I see EVERYWHERE in the tumblr rp community. Iâve had lots of fun, but, unfortunately, the bad far outweighs the good. I love my rp partners on hereâand all my followers, new and old, I love you too. I really want to RP some more with a bunch of you. But I canât condone this communityâs behavior any longer, so Iâm calling it quits when the clock strikes midnight. So hereâs to you, comrades. Itâs been one hell of a ride.
