Give your players a natural disaster to handle. Let it be something they are in no way of controlling: a tornado, volcanic eruption, huge floods… Use this natural disaster as a challenging obstacle or a way to write in a few unique sidequests regarding the situation.

Have an adventure where the heroes are exploring an ancient temple floating on some sky islands. When they trigger a trap, or defeat an evil spirit, or steal a powerful artifact, the islands begin shaking and falling one by one. It’s a high-stakes challenge to get back to the airship or cast a ritual flying spell as the ground crumbles around them, but once they return to the ground they find several miles of forest smashed by rocks from the sky. Maybe even an unlucky village has suffered damage from the wreck. Another cool idea: plan a dungeon in some mountain that’s completely inaccessible. The players can only get in after they explore the sky temples and accidentally drop a stone that cracks the mountain like an egg. (Maybe it even is an egg…)
