sorry to break it to you guys but i might just be the most sleepiest girl ever after all
being denied the ability to do easy tasks just because mommy says that i’m ‘too small’ is such a sweet thought.
even the most simplest of things, like reaching up to grab a glass out of the kitchen cupboards, just to be met with a quiet “uh uh, sweetpea, let mommy help you with that, please. these glasses were expensive baby, and i think that my girl is far too little to be trusted with them right now, hm?” ohmygod it would make me feel so shy i think i’d melt on the spot. bonus points if she ends up filling a sippy cup for me instead of the glass that i was going for in the first place.
to devote myself entirely to her is the most fulfilling vow. to always feel safe in her arms and for her to know with certainty that i trust her and look up to her. to always celebrate her biggest and smallest accomplishments and to be someone she can lean into and find support from. to adore every inch of her until she adores herself as much i do. to belong to her in a way that is healing for us both, a paradise of love and serenity.

as much as i adore the idea of collecting gear for my regression, and things that mama could use as well, the thought of anything being on display for visitors and guests to find does sound quite frightening to me…
thinking about kitchen cupboards of stacked ceramic bowls and glass cups, blocking sight to the much smaller, more childish kitchenware placed behind them. sippy cups and baby bottles with pretty patterns holding space next to coloured divider plates and plastic bowls, covered in vintage illustrations. a kitchen drawer, housing bunched cutlery made from materials that would be much softer on teeth, paired with packets of dried fruits and nuts for snack time.
of course most of our plushies would have to be on display somewhere amongst our bedroom, but an arranged collection of other self soothers could be contained in the dresser and closet, though the neatness of their placements would probably become more disorganised the more that they’re taken out for use. a variety of pacis (some decorated with gems and stickers, others simple in their plain colours), boxed toys- an array of wooden montessori-like puzzles, fictional figures and tea sets. a family of infantile plushies that bring comfort when i am feeling smaller, or those that can be there for mommy when she needs them, too. maybe ones with a secret message when you press the hand, or the heart.
a locked cabinet under the bathroom sink, housing things like toys for a running bath, softer shampoo that is gentle on the eyes, baby powder, scented oils & lotions and packs of pullups. perhaps if i am too sleepy to play during bath time, mommy could sit close by and read me a story instead. picking a book together from the living room bookshelves, reaching behind the mature novels and informative non-fiction reads to find rows of picture books containing many types of narratives. i would be a very good listener, if she were to read to me.

to be rocking gently in her arms, skin against skin while she settles me down with soft strokes and quiet humming. i’d reach up, gently playing with her fallen strands of hair before reassuring her that i’m exactly where i want to be. with my head keeping its place on her chest, i’d imagine i would begin to doze off to the sound of her heartbeat.. i wouldn’t mind if she kept waking me, i’d probably feel frustrated with myself if my sleepiness allowed me to skip the entirety of this moment. if she decided to keep me resting, though, i think the warmth of her gentleness would be enough to send me straight into the sweetest of dreams.
i can only sit and wonder when this time of stability will come to an end, who will i become when when the hope and divinity that lay beyond the cliffs become shadowed by a storm that is stubborn in its strength? will i be brave enough? i don’t want to stay timid. for now i can only appreciate the golden hues of the horizon over a much calmer ocean.
i’ve been feeling so out of touch with my agere side recently and it was getting me down a little, but today i’ve woken up with the need to be running through sprinklers in the garden, grass stains covering my knees whilst mommy keeps an eye on me from the porch, maybe reading a book, or cutting up different fruits for us to share after under the blazing sun. perhaps she’d call me back to her, applying more sunscreen as i insist that i don’t need anymore, before letting me know that i can play for ten more minutes, and then we have to go wash our hands so that we can snack on the fresh fruits.

yearning to curl up in mommy’s lap and forget the rest of the world exists.

rainy days inside with mommy, the noise around us slowly dampened by the the harsh winds dancing in the trees amongst the gloomy downpour. our pyjamas would keep the frigid air away, i’d imagine, whilst a warm drink waits for us on the table. cuddling up together on the couch under many blankets as we watch something soft on the television, or following her around under the light of warm bulbs as we share chores in our space (with the promise of something sweet afterwards.)

night time is often a struggle for me, i find it very hard to unwind, to put my imagination and anxieties to bed. as i lay here now, i can’t help but think of what it would be like if i got to lay down with a mommy and i wonder if it would be easier to relax.
