The Barf Art Project

Etsy seller Sarah Nicole Phillips (snphillips) created this bag as a statement.

"Little Brown Barf Bag pokes fun at the notion that certain disposable shopping bags have become status symbols to the point of becoming a fashion accessory. I live in New York and it amuses me to see people wandering around town with their ubiquitous "brown bags" of various sizes. To some, the piece serves as a critique of the fashion industry's obsession with thinness."

What inspired me to start this project was I recently flew to Baltimore. As I sat there I went to grab the in flight magazine and found a perfectly good barf bag. I thought it would be cool if I drew on it since I had no other form of entertainment.

Since I only had a pen and unfortunately NO artistic talent I decided to take the bag with me. I thought it would be awesome though to get others especially aspiring artists and established artists to draw on barf bags and leave them for others to see. They could be their info on the bag which gives them an opportunity to promote themselves in an easy yet fun way.

Expanding this art project to include other bard art forms was not my original intent. I did not want this project to be disgusting or gross. I still do not want it to be that way, but I am willing to be more liberal with the interpretation of barf art. If anything is too gross I will put it with a warning and under a read more.
