Tracy Lamont approached his performance with supreme confidence in his 2nd attempt at The Bar Exam. His first being in Durham, NC where he and last months winner competed as a group and placed 2nd to Cam of the Materials. This time the Richmond, VA native by way of Durham rapper appeared more polished and refined and admittedly so as told to MICXSIC in a recent interview: “After the last Bar Exam, I made it a point to practice more. Practice, practice, practice...”.

Female Emcee & Poet Love. TheGenius wins the May 2017 Atlanta Bar Exam
This was the 3rd go for the Bar Exam alumni and she did not disappoint. She quickly got the women in the audience on her side with her cocky delivery but by her third verse she earned everyone’s respect with she proclaimed:
I’m tryna spread my love/ and shed my light/ and wear my crown / and drop these mics...i’m tanya feed my soul....
Though it was a unanimous win by the crowds vote in the end, our top 4 was very strong with returning champ LP setting the bar high with his individual performance and arguably the best verse in the final cypher which touched on the topic of refusing to sell out for mainstream appeal. Singer Nicole Ivy returned as a wild card and flipped the script by rapping in the finals and Bar Exam alumni and Boston bred rapper BosLanta added another worthy showing to his Atlanta resume.
Our halftime show saw dope sets from Atlanta rappers Deante Hitchcock and Ben Carter (Marietta, GA, previous winner)
Final numbers on the night: 9 Pass the Bar. 3 Pass the Mic
Love. TheGenius will be featured at The Bar Exam in Atlanta June 23rd along with our Tennessee winners CD_7 (Chattanooga) & Malcom Dwayne (Nashville)
