Barely Balanced

Again, we discussed this before, change isn’t my friend.

I’ve been doing a lot of deep thinking and have made a lot of emotional changes lately, and I can say I’m at peace.

I’m down 16lbs. I have more positive relationships with myself and my friends/family. I’m on the brink of a career change. I’m becoming a better mother. A better bonus mama, and a better friend.

As we head into the spring, I can confidently say, I’m ready for what the year has in store for me.

Since it’s my corner of the internet, I will treat it as such.

Changes is what I’m feeling. Some good, some uncomfortable, some unexpected. January was full of changes, and to the degree of letting certain things go.

Getting injured and working from home, a change I do not wish upon anyone. Feeling disconnected from the world because the only comfort you find is laying on a heating pad.

The change of having to have everything done for you, I also don’t wish that upon anyone. Feeling helpless. Losing your self worth.

I know it’s only temporary, but I can’t help but be lost and stuff in my feelings.

I have learned to welcome change, but right now…I want it to go back to “normal.”

For now, I will continue to embrace it. Continue to push forward. Continue to accept the help that is offered. Continue to work from home when I miss my office tremendously.

This segment in my corner of the internet is about feelings and how extremely weird they can be.

Maybe it’s perimenopause. Maybe it’s anxiety. Maybe I’m just straight up an emotional ball of chaos, but I definitely have some big feelings today. My divorce was finalized today, and I have so many emotions in which I didn’t think I would have.

I’m excited! I’m relieved! I’m free! But, I’m also sad. I’m disappointed. I’m embarrassed. Sad because it’s really over. Disappointed because maybe I should’ve tried harder. Embarrassed because my second divorce is officially under my belt. I’m not going to lie, I cried. Some were happy tears, most were pure sadness, but it’s been 6 years coming and finally come to an end.

The point of this segment? Is education. We are human. We have emotions. We have feelings and we should never be ashamed to feel them, and guess what? It’s okay not to be okay, and above all, it’s okay to cry.

It only took me 40 years to find the perfect leggings and the perfect cat litter. I’d say A) my life is sad and B) I feel somewhat accomplished.

I guess having a back injury and having one laid up for 6 weeks makes you think all sorts of weird things.

It’s officially 2026, and my New Year goals are pretty steep, but also pretty solid. I’m now 40 and need a change, and like all changes, they start with me.

Blogging more is a goal of mine. Finishing EMT is a major goal. Excelling in my career is a goal. Losing 20 pounds is a major goal. Being more organized is a goal. Weeding out the negativity in my life is a goal. Being more financially responsible is a goal.

All of these are sustainable, but not all at once. If I can accomplish 3 of these, I will feel satisfied, and not so much in fight or flight mode.

It’s Christmas Day, and my favorite holiday. Not only are we celebrating Jesus’ birthday, my love language is acts of service (giving gifts), and I’m a really good gift giver!

Next week we’re heading into the new year, and I couldn’t be happier to put 2025 to rest. It was a year of growth, failure, and also peace.

I do have some resolutions for the new year, but I’ll save that for another post.

Christmas looked different this year without the kids, but Randy and I had an amazing day with friends and family.

I didn’t get many pictures because the kids weren’t with us, but I got a few of the family, fur baby, and the fur-less baby.

Yup…you read that right. I turned the big 4-0 and when people ask if I feel older, ironically I do.

I’ve realized, the older you get, the harder it is to lose weight. I’ve realized the older you get, the less you care what other people think about you. I’ve realized that just sleeping on your pillow wrong with leave for a 5 days neck ache, and above all, I’ve realized that change is indeed okay. For those who don’t know, change and I aren’t friends.

Not only am I now officially “old,” I’m determined to make my 40’s the best yet. I have goals that I’m aiming to crush personally, professionally, and academically (stay turned for what that entails)!

Oh, and one last thing I’ve realized…being 40 really isn’t that bad.

Things have been so crazy! Winding down the summer, getting the kiddos back to school.

Noah T is starting 1st grade! To think, I met him when he turned 3. He’s getting too big, too fast and he amazes me more and more everyday ❤️

This past week, Randy and I had the privilege to fly to Texas for a work trip. It was a lot of hard work, but we enjoyed it very much. Seeing the sights, visiting friends, trying new foods, it was great. A did learn a few things while in Texas though:

1) everything is faster and stronger in Texas

2) unsweetened tea is not a thing

3) chicken French is a NY thing

4) water in a can is non-existent

5) only coke products down here

6) Panda Express is life.

7) traffic is INSANE!

8) Texas tacos do not contain lettuce, tomato, and sour cream

9) it’s always hot…even at 11PM

And lastly…

10) a Reese’s peanut butter cup wrapper will set off the security alarm through TSA!

I can now officially cross Texas off of my bucket list 🥰

I have been slacking so much on posting. I think it’s because it’s summer and we’re so busy with the kids and just enjoying our family time. In 3 weeks, the kids will officially be back in school and I can honestly say, it makes me sad/bummed, but I know they’re going to do great things! A few pictures to see our summer 🫶🏻

Today we welcomed Atlas Thomann into our family. Atlas is a 4 month old Sphynx kitten that we love so much already!

Today marks 3 years that I swiped right on the love of my life. If you would’ve asked me 3 years ago if I thought I would be obsessed with this man, it would be a hard no. I was looking for a friend to have a good time with, but instead, he stole my heart.

You see, online dating isn’t all that bad. Who would’ve thought one swipe right would result in 3 years of happiness!
