I love the relationship they have in comics and I find it tragic that in the Evoverse, where Laura originates from, they have never actually met.

TLDR; I think it’s just so cute and funny to imagine these two lonely “serious” (gambits not that serious but he takes his job very seriously) teenagers struggle and learn to love and care each other.. so sweet
Anyways, here’s your more thorough answer:
For one, I feel like specifying their age is a very important thing because evolutions vagueness made people squirm away from it. (😭😭) I think their age gap is at max, 2 years. To me, it’s either rogue being 17 making Gambit 19, or rogue being 18 which would make him 20. I understand why people might view this age gap as weird, but maybe it’s just me where I think this is a very common occurrence? It’s like a high school senior with a college freshman. There could be way more extreme cases, I think their age gap isn’t icky. Maybe a little unusual, but not insane.
Now with that out the way, I always thought it was interesting to think of Scott as being Rogues ‘safe’ option—while Remy was a bit more complicated but a much-better-man-suited-for-her option.
Scott is everything Rogue wishes she can have, while Remy is what she needs, and vice versa. I don’t really see this version of Remy being a ladies man, I think he likes to lead women on to get what he wants for whatever mission he’s performing but that’s all that really happens. With Rogue, there’s something about her that he’s drawn to. She is something new to him.
Scott’s safe as in he’s easily read to be a good person. He’s a gentleman. He’s patient. He showed her empathy and compassion when nobody else did, and yet he was so out of reach, because he was like this with everyone. Gambit is not exactly a morally good person, but he is one hell of a lover. With Rogue, he’s patient. With Rogue, he likes to tease her and humor her to get a laugh out of her. With Rogue, he likes to talk to her. With rogue, he wants to know more about her.
All gambit has is charm. He knows how people work and what makes them weak and tick but he could never really understand* their perspective and why(if that makes sense). Rogue doesn’t have charm and she doesn’t like to talk,, yet while she also struggles to understand people she’s able to learn fast and could quite literally understand why they are the way they are with just a touch of her finger. Rogue and Gambit both never really had people to lean onto and relate to. Well, with Rogue she was able to albeit very recently. She’s still learning, and with Gambit he has to *start* learning, yk? I guess I can only really compare it to Kitty and Lance in a way, except Rogue only has a little bit more experience with being open about her emotions compared to Remy whereas Kitty was LEAGUES ahead of Lance, lolz. I think they have a lot to learn about each other, and they’ll slowly fall in love 🥺 Theyre both awkward, a little edgy, and cute. They'll work it out ~

While I think that Cajun Spice is a real fun episode, I am of the belief that it would've been significantly improved by having Rogue leave Bayville (and the xmen) of her own choice and meeting Gambit on the train to New Orleans.
Also the whole rescuing Jean Luc should be explicitly reframed as something that Remy is doing for his brother, drawing further parallels between himself and Rogue's conflict with Kurt.

I have decided to make him stand out from the other boys in Evo, it would be for the best if he had a unique hairstyle and a styled ponytail seemed like a great choice to me.
