Be lazy. Think crazy.

This is a basic resource with the bog standard preclinical skills we use when handling cats, as Glasgow Vet School would like me to learn them. You have to be assertive with cats. Sometimes I’m almost lying down on them to prevent them from escaping - such “body-cage” I make works really well with moderate scared cats. They like do hide their head in your arm or scrubs. Most of the time they are just scared, poor little buddies.

In some article I’ve read recently there was an advice, that with cats we can try to hold head (three fingers on top of the head between ears, thumb and pinky finger below the ears) instead of scruffing but I don’t know how it works.

And pups (or even small adult dogs)... often try to climb on yours shoulders. Owners consider it sweet or something, but it is not - they are just dominanting. Don’t let them do that, hold them until they understand that they just can’t dominant you as they do with they owners. Be patient and firm, they will calm down.
