He tilted them for Ghost to see. “You think this used to be a person we’d hunt down back in the SAS?”

“Probably.”

“Seems stupid. Dedicating your whole life to serving who knows what person, or underground entity, or government to do their bidding, when at the end of the day, none of it mattered.”

He could feel Ghost’s heavy eyes on him, and Soap looked up.

“Doesn’t sound too different from what we did in the military,” Ghost stated matter-of-factly.

“What? Of course it’s different.”

“I think you need to get more pessimism.”

“And I think you need to get that stick out of your arse.”

Ghost huffed and half-rolled his eyes.
