I know that usually the trope of a character getting suddenly transformed into a younger version of themselves can be really silly and and inspire a lot of cute moments, but imagine how actually devastating that would be.
Soap wakes up in the morning and notices a toddler crawling out of Ghost's pajamas. No one knows what happened. No one knows what to do. No one knows how to reverse it.
And after a few days, it seems permanent.
Obviously Soap takes care of the child. Soap has heard all the horror stories of Simon's childhood, those experiences leaving a permanent scar on his heart that Soap had tried to stitch back together again over the years. And seeing the sweet, innocent boy that someone inflicted their cruelty upon makes Soap's rage reignite.
He is a sensitive boy, always stuck to Soap's side. He jumps at loud noises and is scared of the dark. He loves playing with firefighter figures and looking at planes in the sky. He often tucks himself into Soap's neck and falls asleep on his chest.
Soap loves Simon. He loves the boy.
But days turns to weeks. And weeks turns to months.
And the devastation of reality crushes him.
When Soap puts the child to sleep at night, he escapes to the privacy of his own space before letting the tears bubble over. He misses Simon. Soap yearns for his small smiles and soft gazes, tangled limbs in the early morning, breathy laughter over a drink, firm hands exploring his body, kisses that left him dizzy with happiness.
His Simon.
And now Soap has to take care of a boy and stare into his eyes every single day that are identical to the love of his life that he lost.
