If life were as simple as it looked on the surface, Zigfeld would be deemed the most simple and shallow beings of them all. Money, family, a large social media following. No problems, no worries, and certainly not an ounce of weight on the young manâs shoulders. That is exactly what the pubic saw. To everyone except close family, he was a golden boy, an advocate, an heir to a thriving family business. Even friends were left in the dark, as it was difficult to tell who was present for selfless reasons, and who was present for very selfish reasons. Zigfeld would have spent millions on the world if he could; there wasnât a greedy bone in the boyâs body. It was his parents who instilled a gluttonous nature in him. They harbored their money, kept it from anyone who truly needed it, and used it to fuel their avaricious lifestyle.
He fell into his destiny alongside his twin sister. Both were groomed into the perfect spokespersons for the family business. Organic grocery goods. Nothing could beat two children raised that way from conception, healthy and flourishing in every aspect of life. Sure, it was a lifestyle for those who could afford it â but they were buying a brand, the idea of healthy living, not the health itself. Their parents were masters in manipulation, so it didnât matter where they sourced their produce from, it only mattered that it was bought at twice the price itâd be sold elsewhere. Although Ziggy was free from his parentsâ unsavory traits at the start, he wouldnât have been able to survive if he hadnât adapted. It was less of a choice and more of a requirement to become a real, true Ballantyne.
Teenagedom brought organization into his life. Schedules, appearances, good graces, manners, more, and more, and more. Ziggy felt at home with every bit of it. He adored the idea of having his life laid out for him, seemingly untouched by any harm in the world. Just as swiftly as said organization came, chaos manifested. His grandfather was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer and passed away within the year. His father, whom had dealt with the tragedy well, was diagnosed in the following months. Ziggy was blissfully unaware of the diagnoses for a while. He had perfected the art of ignoring those around him, and focusing solely on his own needs. He had become a true Ballantyne. With that being said, he was eventually let in on the news. Grief came naturally, as he still wasnât an inherently bad person. Instead of being able to stay at his fatherâs side, he was given more responsibility.
A small Massachusetts town was in his sights. Ziggy was now a designated scout for his parentsâ company. They figured a small town startup would be beneficial for their brand, as compared to the Los Angeles headquarters they currently held. A fresh demographic was the goal, and Devinstone fit the bill magnificently. As eager as he could be for the idea of a move across the country, Ziggy felt even more responsible to carry out the business he was assigned. With his nose held up in the air, expectations astronomically high, and privilege lacing every aspect of his life, he was prepared to handle no challenges that came with small town living.
