Emily: Infants are easy. Sylvan: I wouldn't say easy. But also not nearly as high-maintenance as some claim. Emily: Sylvan's mom insists that's only because Poppy is a calm child. She may have a point, because unlike Sylvan, Poppy has never gone running around the yard without pants. Sylvan: My mom is clearly talking about Silver. Emily: Of course. Let's blame the brother from another mother. Sylvan: Emily's trying to derail the conversation with stories from my childhood so she doesn't have to talk about her secret weapon. Emily: Oh, come on! Sylvan: What? Emily: Our secret weapon!

Emily: I know we're not talking about me right now— Sylvan: I didn't want to talk about this, so we can very easily talk about you instead. Emily: We are not talking about me right now… but it was a very difficult situation to be in. I was happy because of the baby. But at the same time, I felt like I was supposed to be sad too, because that's what a decent person is when somebody dies. Gia: That is difficult. You were trying to be happy, sad, supportive, and socially appropriate all at once. Emily: Exactly. Gia: I think beneath all the bickering, there is a pretty good and caring foundation.

I'm not going to write about every single one of them, but I do want to point out a few.

Holly deserved better. Her generation was the shortest one, and I barely shared it at all. I chose food and restaurants as her theme, but we all know what a nightmare pack Dine Out is. The constant problems led to frustration, and eventually I just abandoned all the goals and went full literal legacy gameplay: two sims meet, move in together, get married, have a child, rush that child through childhood, and move on to the next generation. I really liked Holly and Samesh, but my frustration and burnout with the game made me run through their lives 😭

Violet was yet another occult, and after vampires, my expectations were so low. I was fully convinced werewolves would be just as underwhelming. But I was wrong. She was so much fun, and, of course, there was man-child Spencer. I was constantly laughing while playing with their family.

Lumi might seem pretty boring from the outside because she didn't have dramatic or difficult goals. She was my mom generation. A teacher who had always wanted a big family, and in the end, she had four sons. I just really enjoyed playing with a big family. So from the outside, her generation might look uneventful, but in reality, it was actually quite challenging.

Sylvan gets the favorite spot. I try to avoid picking favorites because it makes it so much harder to move on from a generation, but right now it's him. I usually feel like the generation I'm currently playing is the most interesting and best, and then the next generation starts, and everything changes.

Emily: I can't keep this to myself... Sylvan's mom and dad died the same day Poppy was born.

Sylvan: Emily! Seriously?!

Gia: I think we should stay with that for a moment.

Sylvan: No.

Emily: There is plenty to talk about.

Sylvan: They crashed a car. The end.

Gia: And what did that do to you?

Sylvan: Nothing. I'm fine.

Emily: But your behavior has been saying otherwise...

Emily: I really should have prepared better…

Sylvan: You said that, not me.

Emily: And you're thinking it.

Sylvan: The panic, denial, and screaming were a little intense... but what do I know, I wasn't the one giving birth.

Emily: Exactly. The one pushing out the baby is always right and always entitled to panic.

Sylvan: Obviously.

Gia: New day, new session. What if this time we talk about how you prepared for parenthood?

Emily: Sylvan did most of the prepping.

Sylvan: And the back rubbing. And the reassuring.

Emily: Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. I just happen to be much stronger at making simoleons multiply.

Emily: The issue is that Sylvan has two girlfriends. Sylvan: Not me. The undercover version of me. Emily: Undercover, under the covers… very small step. And it's still your one mouth getting far too close to someone with highly questionable lifestyle choices. Next thing you know: "Poppy, this is your little sister. Her mommy launders money, but she's actually very nice." Sylvan: Part of the job is earning trust and creating distractions. And unless you're planning to take up money laundering, there is absolutely no chance I'll ever be saying that. Emily: I was part of the job too! Sylvan: And I almost lost my job because of you! Gia: Hmm… I can see emotions are running a little high.
