I need meat!
The switch to a vegetarian diet can be a difficult one. Thankfully, there are ways to significantly cut back on the amount of meat you eat while still allowing yourself the occasional burger or bacon.Â
The easiest solution would be "Meatless Mondays". All you have to do is go without any meat just one day a week. One step further would be a "weekday vegetarian diet" (Hill). Monday through Friday, you would not eat meat, but on the weekends, you are free to eat whatever you'd like.Â
If you feel like even one day is too long for you to go without your precious meat, you could try just cutting back on the amount you eat at each meal. A study done in New York state suggested that people âlimit their meat and egg consumption to two cooked ounces per dayâ3.8 ounces less than the national average.â (Koerner 61). This small change could have a huge impact on the environment, as well as your health!
