Rowan gently hugged the girl back, smiling at her when she pulled away, “Well, Bailey, let’s get you all nice and clean so we can go get some yummy food.” She stood up and led her to the bathroom and turned on the tub.

Bailey nodded and grasped Rowan’s hand tightly. “Okay, Rowan!” The little blonde girl slipped out of her dress and stood beside Rowan as she prepared the bath.

Rowan made sure the water was the right temperature before getting her into the bath. She gave her a bath before drying her off and giving her a shirt and some shorts to wear. They would be a bit big on her, but it was better than nothing.

The bath was overwhelming at first but soon Bailey came to love the feeling of the warm water and the soap. It seemed luxurious to the small child. Once she was in some dry clothes Bailey began to yawn rub at her eyes sleepily.

Bailey found the back corner of the closet and hid behind a large box. Once she was fairly safe she dug into the container of mac n cheese. She would scoop it out with her hand and ate it off her fingers. Bailey wouldn’t exit the closet until they promised they wouldn’t send her away. She didn’t want to leave Genis.

Bailey frowned and set aside the tub of mac n cheese. She knew what it was to be different but did Genis understand how it to be rejected by your own flesh and blood parents. To be kept in a room devoid of light and sound for many of your formative years. Tears pooled in her grey eyes as she pressed herself even father back into the closet. She didn't feel the laser pistol until it had gone off.
