The idea of Prune's parents moving out of Mondstadt to pursue greater opportunities which lead to them neglecting Prune and making her feel ashamed for being a child even though that's literally what she was a child. Only for Prune to rediscover and reclaim her childhood in her home region is genuinely very moving to me.
I read through Prunes Character story (On the wiki bc my luck with 4 stars have been terrible lately) and here are some spark notes of interesting moments that are both funny and sad
* Prune felt as though she had to mature so quickly because her parents were always busy and working hard (That trope always gets me aaa)
*At night sheβd just lay awake in her bed because she was afraid of the dark, but didnβt want to bother her parents by asking them to comfort her
*When the other kids in nod-Krai asked to play with her, sheβd apply logic to their games so they stopped asking
* When she talked to Descartes in public, people thought she was schizophrenic
* When an old lady asked if she was ok she immediately turned to her and asked if she thought the world was real.
* Alice started talking to her purely because she was bored, and she just happened to notice Descartes fading away and immediately went into villain mode.
* The βDebatesβ that Prune and Alice had were just Alice asking her random stupid questions and Prune applying logic to disprove them
* The Bell and Hammer that Prune uses as witch hunting gear were just stuff that Alice didnβt want anymore so she offloaded them to Prune.
*The Bell in particular was an old tea party bell. She said a witch MIGHT show up when it rings because attendance wasnβt mandatory, and even then there was no telling whoβd show up.
*Now imagine all the active members of the hexenzirkel seeing their bell ring and rolling their eyes because they thought Alice was butt-dialing them.
*Prune wanted an electro vision because, and I quote: βPyro was far too fervent, Hydro was too mellow, Geo felt unwieldy, Cryo was a bit haughty, Anemo could be rather capricious, and Dendro leaned toward vivaciousnessβ
*When she did get her vision she shouted up to the sky that the gods gave her the wrong one.
*When she got to Mondstat she had a plan to kidnap Klee and hold her for ransom to summon Alice. She dropped that plan for two reasons. One was because of morals, but the other was because sheβd have to deal with Albedo, and probably the rest of the Knights of Favonious.

I am kinda sad that Prune's design made people turn away from her character.
Because to me she's incredibly fascinating.
Prune prides herself in saying "she's too grown up to act kid like." On its own this is a fine set up. Most kids have this desire to grow up a bit quickly than they should.
But that changes the moment you factor in her backstory.
In Prune's backstory it's outright stated that she feels like this way because of her background and because of her parents.
Prune is horrible neglected by her parents.
And you know what. She's still kind.
Yes she can be a bit too loud and narrow minded sometimes but honestly that doesn't matter much. So what if she's loud. She is incredibly loyal, she is headstrong and knows what she wants, she compassionate, loyal, considerate and incredibly loving.
I really like this aspect of her character actually.
While yes Prune is a kid and therefore there are many things she can't understand yet the people around her are still treating her like a kid.
While at the same time calling her too childish for liking childish things even though she is well, a child.
It's completely understandable and hell even reasonable for Prune to be confused and frustrated by the people around her and in her confusion to seek out something that wouldn't lie to her. Aka books.
Sure she doesn't read "childish" books (mostly because her parents lowkey made her feel like she wasn't allowed to be a kid anymore) but I do think she does enjoys reading quite a bit because reading allows her to not only learn the truth about something but also because a book can't lie to her, a book can't underestimate her.
Prune just wants someone to be honest with her and see her as an equal.
Something i really like about Prune is that she is still selfish even though she is incredibly kind.
Prune overall does not really care about the rest of the world or have grand ideals like a lot of characters in genshin instead her goals are smaller and more centerend around her and the people she wants to protect.
She wants the people she cares about to be safe but when it comes to larger parts of the world she largely doesn't care and considering her backstory this makes a lot of sense.
Prune was constantly feeling guilty because of her parents, she was constantly feeling like she was asking for too much.
But her parents? Never felt even a slightest bit of remorse for her. So she doesn't care that much about the world either. The only people she cares about are the people who do right by her side and are there for her.
