I latched onto the last part of this post in my first reblog, and didn’t give enough space to the first part. Here’s my response to the other part: say what you mean and not a co-opted psych term that is inaccurate. Your self centered abusive ex probably isn’t sctually a narcissist, you’re looking for the term “entitled.” The person you are calling slow as an insult, would it be better to describe them as a “stubborn bigot with no interest in learning how to be respectful of a group they hate”? Or maybe “an asshole who wants me to do it for them so they keep pretending to not know, despite not struggling with this when on their own.” Or maybe would it be better to step back, take a breath, and ask yourself, “do I just lack the patience needed to help this person right now?” You don’t thing someone is a “depressed loser” and therefore miserable to be around, you are mad they’re being actuvely misanthropic or contrarian about the things that make you happy, then acting disproportionately outraged when asked to keep their opinions to themself. Your friend who invited you out only to be icy to you the entire evening and snap at you on the way hole isn’t bipolar, they’re a bad friend who’s being shitty about communicating. Your friend doing something unpredictable that hurts you isn’t “acting schizophrenic,” they’re being a selfish asshole who didn’t give any thought to the consequences of their actions.
