Lyney Knave au. Headcanon thingy.

Freminet makes toys for the kids suffering from psychosis and is also there for them.

A big part with psychosis is actually the loneliness factor of it because when you have psychosis you don't actually get that much support from the people around you and that experience can be incredibly lonely.

Mental illness like psychosis, schizophrenia etc. are all heavily demonized by the larger people which leads to isolation and increased amount of loneliness. People with psychosis aren't able to freely talk about their experience because for a lot of people it's incredibly uncomfortable to hear about their struggles and their problems.

And while i don't think there is nothing wrong with boundaries. I do think people sometimes don't let people with psychosis or schizophrenia simply exist because it's uncomfortable for them.

And this is where Freminet comes in.

See in my au thingy Freminet is the one taking care of the disabled and neurodivergent kids. Why? Cause I think it is something he would do. I mean he was literally there for Zuria and also had canonically remembered the treatment the therapist did for the kids suffering from loneliness syndrome to the point he was able to recall it later in life. So yeah he'll definitely be there for the neurodivergent and the disabled kids, 100%.

And i like to think that when it comes someone dealing with psychosis he'll not even be there for them he'll also make a small penguin for them (preferably with less screws and nuts so the child doesn't try to harm themselves) so they would have someone to listen to their struggles even when he's not around just like how Pers listened to him.

it sucks how people dont let you talk about your psychotic experiences and immediately just go "see a doctor about that" or "i am not qualified to help with this" like i actually am not asking you to fix this i just need someone to listen to me because this experience is incredibly isolating and lonely and scary and no one seems to be able to deal with me when i really just need a friend. like why is it ok to talk about your autism or adhd struggles but as soon as it is psychosis it is chucked in the too hard basket.

I'm reading a study on how nurses define the term 'drug seeking', and what makes them more likely to put the 'drug-seeker' label on a patient's charts and. well. let me just throw down some quotes

"Needy, unable to cope" (<- you try coping with chronic pain)

"Comfort seeking" (<- you mean.. having a preference for not being in pain.. how criminal)

"Using or trying to obtain drugs on a long-term, chronic base" (<- do you understand what 'chronic pain' means.)

"Asking for pain med then returning to sleep."

"States he’s level 10 pain, but does not appear to be in pain (or ‘5= on appearance)." (<- it is well-known that chronic pain patients tend not to display pain in the same way as acute pain patients)

"Dramatic response to pain" (<- notice how this directly contradicts the comment above. you cannot win)

"Gets IV med, then leaves unit to smoke or walk around" (<- wow requiring medication and then going off to do something you needed pain meds to be able to do is so suspicious)

the article itself put it best when it says: “some comments depict patients trying to apply sound pain management principles, such as continuing to take medication for persistent pain”. no wonder all the other literature on the matter says that women of colour are the most likely group to be labelled drug-seeking. this shit is entirely vibes-based (read: based on the prejudices of nurses and doctors)

There are so many people that are pro disability rights until they find out disabilities can be gross sometimes. It's so wild seeing the same people advocating for more mental health talk losing their shit over a depressed person not brushing their teeth or cleaning their spaces, or people who totally support physically disabled people until they find out I once pissed in a cup because I was in too much agony to get out of my bed, or that sometimes cups and food sit in my room longer than they should because I physically can't get up to put them away. Disabled people sometimes have incontinence, disabled people sometimes have bad hygiene, and still deserve to be supported. It's so fucking performative and it pisses me off. Even other disabled people act like this. Shaming people for stuff they can't control doesn't help anyone, just makes you an insufferable person.

he would not fucking say that, but with disability.. he would not fucking be able bodied. sick n tired of characters walking away from multiple life changing injuries without a scratch. let’s get some natural consequences in here.

give that knife/sword fight survivor nerve damage. give the character who was shot in the gut a stoma. give that fire survivor lung damage and an oxygen cannula. give that leg injury survivor a cane. give that starvation survivor gastroparesis. give that spinal injury survivor a manual chair or powerchair.

while we’re at it, give your characters congenital disabilities too, just because. give them intellectual and development disabilities. give them acquired and postviral illnesses. dare to make somebody bedbound. for me.
