( 𝟎𝟒 남자:! “ yeah. ” usually, baekhyun was one to ramble on, continue to have run on sentences that seemed never ending, a cheeky smile across his features because he simply knew what he was doing, but, for some odd reason he didn’t. maybe it was because seungri was a hyung and a sunbae to baekhyun, he was more experienced in everything baekhyun aspired to be after all. so, when he’s sat across from the older he simply nods his head, for behind that silly and playful facade is a boy that’s actually willing to listen and not mess around for a few minutes, if anyone knew how to get better at what he was doing, he thinks to himself, it’d be his experienced hyung.
currently, the two are speaking of the music industry, a conversation that started at nothing but empty, yet playful remarks turning into a moment of cherished seriousness on the younger’s behalf. baekhyun wasn’t aware of it, but he needed the advice more than ever right now; he was exhausted and his head wasn’t screwed on the right way, and his band mates weren’t getting along in the best of ways lately; but it was expected. his question, was how to make everybody happy again, co-operative. sure, he wasn’t as pulled together as his leader but somebody had to try, and that’s where baekhyun’s determination kicked in, it was undying at times. he mentioned he wasn’t happy himself, and that he needed others to help him become that bright and bubbly person he shows on stage. ❛ In this world, there are things you can only do alone. ❜, comes his response, and he nods, staring out of the window that has caught his small attention span for now.
it’s only after a few minutes of basking in a seemingly stuffy silence that baekhyun finally speaks up again, and this time his head is tilted to the left a little, his tongue sweeping across his lips habitually to dampen them. “ what did you do during hard times, hyung? ” there’s genuine curiosity laced within his words, and he leans forward to rest his elbows on his knees, looking across to the male. “ was it hard? being with your band mates under all of the pressure you’ve been through together? did you argue a lot? is it…normal? ”

“ he’s gonna notice it isn’t me because i’m dieting, so you’ll need somebody else to cover for you; i’m not taking the blame again. ” it wasn’t as if he was afraid of sehun’s temper, he’d easily buy him another pack of whatever jongin stole on his behalf; it was the trivial fun of messing around with the younger that got him to play along in the end.

6:02am jongin blinks again and imagines himself being nowhere else but home in his bed, half of his face buried into his blue pillow, hair most likely dirty and messy from tossing and turning all night. he’s given about two seconds to think of what the perfect day of sleeping would look like until something hits him from behind. jongin stumbles forward maybe two steps, hand automatically reaching to rub the back of his now sore head before he turns around to find the culprit, definitely not shocked when he sees a number on a back more than familiar jog away. “you know you could just say sorry?” with another glance down at the ball on the ground, he lets out a sigh and kicks it away, watching it trail the other’s footsteps almost as if intended. “at least get your own ball i’m not picking up after you, byun baekhyun.”
he’s incredibly embarrassed, but of course byun baekhyun wouldn’t admit to that, it’d be considered a crime of many in his own books though he stops in his tracks after hearing the other call out to him. it wasn’t like he didn’t know kim jongin...he just didn’t know kim jongin. there’s a difference. baekhyun didn’t make kim jongin laugh until he cried everyday, and baekhyun didn’t steal scraps of kim jongin’s food everyday, and baekhyun certainly didn’t hang out of kim jongin for dear life when he was feeling lazy. no, instead, baekhyun took quick glances of kim jongin’s bio test, passed the ball to kim jongin in football, and accidentally smacked him in the head with it too. he decides luck isn’t on his side either today because kim jongin doesn’t look impressed, and he looks tired too. (baekhyun notices he always looks tired, though.)
it’s about time he decides to speak up, and as much as he wants to sound maybe cool...condescending? his voice is surprisingly more shaky than he’d like it to be, and maybe he doesn’t think his words through good enough because he’s tripping over each syllable with every word he says. “ y-yeah !? well, you should...come pick it up and give it to me then--! you kicked it last so... ” his gaze has dropped to his football boots that are already dirty from the little practicing he’s done already, and again he’s more embarrassed than he can begin to phantom, his cheeks heating up and making his face red in color. the shrill whistle heard aside makes him jump in his stance though, the coach obviously not taking any of baekhyun’s usual laziness today as he shoots him that look, and baekhyun decides there’s no use in getting embarrassed anymore; maybe kim jongin won’t take notice of his cringe-filled counter-act.
running ahead a little and kicking the ball towards the male he just yelled at, he shoots him a cheeky smile and tilts his head to the side a little way, a habitual laugh dropping from rosy red lips, november seeping into his clothes and muck staining his shoes as he idly speaks. “ --hm...race you to the goal eighty-eight? ”
