100%. I disagree that they are "bangers" because the only "star" they really have in it is Dean Ambrose, who is only known to wrestling fans because Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns carried him on their backs for years. But I get what you are saying that these are what pass for "stars" and "storylines" in AEW and it's really obvious Tony Khan is freaked out about All In ticket says because his move is always "Start Tournament in Case of Emergency."

I’ve recently tried to dip my toe into dating apps and it’s going about as anyone would expect. I said on my profile that I watch AEW and NJPW, pointedly to try to exclude anyone who would see “wrestling” and try to start talking at me about WWE. (On the scale of nerd interests to disclose on a profile, wrestling felt like a safer one to make the tip of the iceberg - I have a lot weirder stuff that they have to wait to know me to find out.)

This guy messages me and is like who’s better, Jay White or Okada? And he’s not my type at all but I was like eh, can’t hurt to practice talking to people on here so what the hell, I’ll bite. So I say objectively it’s Okada but I’m a fan of Jay etc, and he’s like, “I’d say Ospreay but I haven’t watched New Japan in a little bit.”

I’m like. Floored. Flabbergasted. Buddy you don’t know ball at ALL. That’s like saying “omg I LOVE that show! I stopped watching five seasons ago. I LOVE <character who’s dead now>.”

And then when I said they were all in AEW now he said that NJPW should try pushing their own people, or maybe Austin Theory, because he needs to “develop his brand a bit.”
