I think something that has helped me a lot in general is doing things and getting hard tasks done to make life easier for my future self. Enjoying the moment is important, of course, but instead of pushing off important to do’s and leaving a mess for myself to pick up later, I deal with it as soon as it comes up. It might feel chaotic in the moment, but I tell you what, I have been having so many moments recently where I am just relaxing and enjoying the peace and I can’t help but thank myself for making my life care free because I decided to be disciplined rather than lazy. The delayed reward of “get it done now” is really worth it. It’s up to you to provide a beautiful and enjoyable future for yourself. Do whatever it is that needs to be accomplished right now. 

literally though if you feel like your life is slipping through your fingers and every day goes too fast… try doing hard things, not just taking the easy route, like reading and making art and exercising and cooking a meal from scratch and journaling, doing these things without distraction, without being absorbed on a screen… the time will stretch and you’ll be reminded that life is long and beautiful if you make it so.

Universe, please keep me soft, but hard to fool. Surround me with energy that pours back into me. Expose what’s not real. Elevate what is. And when I forget who I am, bring me home.
